Vanstar Acquires 67 Cells in the Frotet-Troilus Volcanic Belt

LA PRAIRIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2010) - Vanstar Mining Resources («Vanstar»)(TSX VENTURE:VSR) wishes to announce that it has acquired, by map designation, 67 cells totalling 3,500 hectares in six blocks in the Frotet-Troïlus volcanic belt. Numerous Cu-Zn-Ag and Cu-Au showings are found on many cell groups close to Beaufield Resources (TSX VENTURE:BFD) who recently announced 4.20% Zn, 2.72% Cu, 0.19% Pb, 500.93 g/t Co, 72.02 g/t Ag and 0.53 g/t Au over 322,15 m ( See Beaufield's press release - September 30, 2010)

At least 9 mineralized showing were found on the cell groups recently acquired by Vanstar (Source – Gestim). Four of the showings have a VMS characteristic typology. They are located in the neighbourhood of Beaufield's Torigny project and Inmet's Troïlus mine.

Lac Frotet - Baie SE

A grab sample, taken in a tuff outcrop by the geologist of the Ministère des richesses naturelles et de la faune, returned 0,93% Cu et 2,8 g/t Ag (sample 15B; ET 84-08). Another grab sample assayed 5744 ppm Cu in an intermediate lapilli tuff (GM 53495).

Lac Frotet - SE

Two grab samples returned 1,63% Zn and 0,49% Cu (GM 48668). In trench #2, three samples returned 0,78% Zn and 0,19% Cu, 0,63% Cu and, the last one, 1,3% Zn. One channel sample assayed 0,52% Zn and 0,25% Cu over 1 m (GM 56629 et 58285).

Hole 038-88-03 intersected 6160 ppm Zn over 2 m at 49,8 m and Hole 038-88-04 intersected 1020 ppm Zn and 1940 ppm Cu over 2 m at 105 m (GM 58639). Hole 2002-02 intersected 660 ppm Zn, 1490 ppm Cu et 3,3 g/t Ag over 2,3 mat 4,1 m and Hole 2000-02 intersected 0,47% Zn over 0,7 m (GM 59005).

This showing is located in a volcanic pile favourable to the deposition of VMS deposits.

Monique TR-4 and Zone 14

Two grab samples in Trench #4 returned respectively 2,3% Zn and 0,85% Cu (GM 56629 et 58285).

Channel samples in Trench T-14-1 (GM 53495) returned 0,35% Cu, 0,92% Zn and 4,7 g/t Ag over 0,84 m and 0,13% Cu and 0,35% Zn over 11,6 m. The samples are mineralized with pyrite and pyrrhotite with minor sphalerite and chalcopyrite. This mineralization is of volcanogenic origin.

The 5 showings described below can be classified has orogenic veins.


A grab sample taken in a quartz vein in a gabbro sill mineralized with 50% pyrite and 5% chalcopyrite returned 1,61 % Cu et 50 g/t Ag.


Two grab samples returned 0,87 % Cu and 2,55 % Cu and 14,1 ppm Ag (GM 51960) and another grab returned 0,57 g/t Au (GM 52663). Mineralization is found in 1-2 mm fractures and consists of 5-15% chalcopyrite, 5-20% pyrite with up to 5% bornite.

Occurrence B

This showing is found with a quartz-carbonate vein mineralized with disseminated pyrite, pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite. A grab sample returned 1,22 g/t Au et 1,44 % Cu (GM 42887).

Occurrence C

A quartz-carbonate vein mineralized with chalcopyrite and native silver was found in a tonalite and returned 1,4% Cu an 759,2 g/t Ag (GM 42887).

Showing 51-11-3

Hole 51-11-3 intersected 1,25% Cu, 18,3 g/t Ag, 3 g/t Au, 0,03 % Zn and 0,01 % Ni. Mineralization consists of chalcopyrite, silver, gold, pentlandite, sphalerite, pyrrhotine and pyrite.
