Vanstar Starts a 1,200-Metre Drilling Program on Patica

LA PRAIRIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Feb. 11, 2010) - The management of Vanstar (TSX VENTURE:VSR) announces that a 1,200-metre drilling program is now underway on its Patica property. The property is located approximately 100 km to the south of the municipality of Radisson in the James Bay area.

This first drilling program by Vanstar will be aimed at testing the PG Vein showing where numerous gold values were obtained in a 100m shear zone intruded by quartz veins. The Threegold B and Main-Cu showings will also be verified with this drilling program.

About the Patica project.

The property is comprised of 53 cells covering an area of 2,759 hectares. The Patica project extends for 13 km along a volcano-sedimentary belt, within tonalite intrusions, hosting numerous precious and base metal showings.

Previous work on the Patica property showed the presence of three important deformation zones. The known strike length of the north deformation zone is at least 3.75 km, but probably extends across most of the property (13 km), and is known to host at least 5 gold showings. The north deformation zone is characterized by a shear zone up to 100 m with mineralized portion in excess of 10 m wide in an intrusive rock.

Geochemical sampling carried out by the company confirmed earlier results reported in government files (MFRNQ, GM57665). Gold and silver mineralization occurs in a pyritized shear zone hosting quartz-hematite veins with chalcopyrite and galena. Five of the eight showings, Threegold A and B, PG Vein, Lac Wapistan SW and Main-Cu returned good values.

On the PG Vein, grab samples returned values of up to 20.16 g/t Au and 186.6 g/t Ag and channel samples returned up to 17.44 g/t Au and 571.7 g/t Ag over 0.3 m. On the Threegold B showing, grab samples returned values of up to 29.14 g/t Au and over 500 g/t Ag and channel samples returned up to 25.53 g/t Au and 802.7 g/t Ag over 0.3 m.

The Main-Cu showing consists of quartz veins mineralized with chalcopyrite and galena within volcano-sedimentary rocks and iron formations. Results of the 2007 sampling program returned values of 1.16 % Cu, 11.5 g/t Ag and 0.27 % Zn over 0.8 m, 1.06 % Cu 8.8 g/t Ag and 0.27 % Zn over 1.0 m. A grab sample also returned 0.04 % Cu, 4.8 g/t Ag and 2.91 % Zn.

Mr. Gilles Laverdiere, geologist and qualified person as per NI 43-101, is responsible for the supervision of the drilling program. He has reviewed and approved this press release.
