Vanstar Starts a Drilling Campaign on the Nelligan Property

LA PRAIRIE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 6, 2012) - The management of Vanstar Mining Resources Inc. (« Vanstar »)(TSX VENTURE:VSR) is pleased to announce the start of a 2,500-meter drilling campaign that will take place on the Nelligan gold property. The property comprises 92 mining cells covering an area of 4,968 hectares and is located near Chapais, in Abitibi. The drilling will start in mid-March.

Geological description of the Nelligan project

Nelligan showing

The Nelligan property is centred on the Druillette synclinal that trends East-West. The heart of the synclinal comprises sediments of the Coapatica Formation while its North and South flancs comprise mafic volcanic rocks of the Obatogamau Formation. The geological and structural environment is favorable to the formation of a disseminated pyrite type or quartz-tourmaline-pyrite vein type gold deposit. The area's dominant structure, the Opawica-Guercheville deformation zone, is located 5 km North of the project. This structure hosts the Joe Mann mine (6.40 MT at 8.52 g/t Au, 1997), the Philibert deposit (1.4 MT at 5.3 g/t Au) and the Chevrier deposit (3.7 MT at 5.1 g/t Au).

Previous drill holes returned grades of 2.17 g/t Au and 3.52 g/t Au ( drill holes 94-13 and 95-01 ) over respective widths of 4.4 and 10 metres. Many IP and magnetic anomalies were identified where the drilling will take place.

Phillibert showing

The Phillibert 1 showing is hosted in an amphibolitized and lightly epidotized gabbro. The gold mineralization is linked to a white to smoky quartz vein with tourmaline, carbonate and is lightly mineralized with pyrite. Gold seems more abundant where the quartz vein contains tourmaline and/or pyrite. The historical data mentions grades of 31.06 g/t Au and 2.54 g/t Ag on 1.22 m, 22.66 g/t on 1 m and another one with 6.0 g/t Au on 1 m in channel sampling. Drill hole 973-02 returned grades of 18.86 g/t Au on 0.60 metre.

The drilling will be under the supervision of Daniel Kelly, consulting geologist and Qualified Person as per NI 43-101. This news release was read and approved by Daniel Kelly.
