Vanu, Inc.® Launches SuperPico GSM Base Station at the 2009 Milcom Conference and Exhibition

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - October 19, 2009) - Vanu, Inc. today announced the commercial launch of its SuperPico GSM base station. The SuperPico is a low-cost, self-contained GSM base station that is specifically designed for outdoor deployments.

The SuperPico is optimized for rapid deployments and its low power dissipation facilitates providing coverage in extreme rural and remote areas. It can also be used for urban in-filling and for marine, military and emergency use. The SuperPico's rugged design is completely sealed with an IP66 rating to withstand dust and high powered water jets, and its low power consumption enables deployment with alternative energy sources, such as solar, in areas where electricity is not readily available.

The SuperPico offers a rich set of 2.5G user services and features including AMR based GSM Voice, MO/MT SMS and GPRS/EDGE Data. The two main components of the SuperPico, the Cellular Radio and the BSS Controller, are both tower mountable and weigh less than 12 pounds each. Together, they constitute a GSM BSS offering that can efficiently deliver voice and data services in a compact and portable package.

"We developed the SuperPico with military and government customers in mind," said Vanu Bose, President and CEO of Vanu, Inc. "It is a solution that can be 100% solar-powered, has a satellite backhaul option, and is durable enough for all weather conditions. Furthermore, it is easily deployed and can be installed by unskilled personnel in less than two hours. It has a superior transmit power and range than most traditional Pico Base Stations and a much smaller footprint than most Micro Base Stations. It is the ideal solution for total cost reduction, easy integration, and fast deployment."
