VaxAmerica and Pharmacy Select Announce Offering to Make Flu Vaccines Available Nationwide

Flu Clinic Services to Be Made Available to More Than 4,000 Independent Pharmacies Located in All 50 States

TEMECULA, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2010) - VaxAmerica, a program of FFF Enterprises' specialty pharmacy, NuFACTOR, and Pharmacy Select, the umbrella organization of three major Independent Pharmacy Buying Groups, Pharmacy Provider Services Corporation (PPSC), Pace Alliance, and Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC), announced today a program that will offer flu vaccine clinic services to more than 4,000 independent pharmacies nationwide. The program will open its doors to communities located near any of the participating pharmacies to receive their flu vaccination.

"Our goal is to provide a service to our member pharmacies that will allow them to offer flu vaccine clinics to their communities," states Kristen Reabe, Pharm. D., vice president of contracts, Pharmacy Select. "VaxAmerica offers a convenient, safe and affordable vaccination program and brings a tremendous opportunity to our member pharmacies who are looking to offer vaccines for their patients."

VaxAmerica's parent company, FFF Enterprises, is the nation's largest and most trusted distributor of flu vaccine. With online scheduling, individuals can reserve their flu shots for themselves and their family members at a convenient location. VaxAmerica also offers flexible billing options, including health plan billing, and currently has contracts with most major health plans.

"We have created a model to make it easy and convenient for people to protect themselves from the flu," says Nancy Creadon R.N., vice president, VaxAmerica. "Vaccination is always the first line of defense, and through our offering with Pharmacy Select and their partners, PPSC, Pace Alliance and IPC, we will now be able to bring assistance to the independent pharmacies that reach people in large and small communities across the United States."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more people die each year from influenza (the flu) and resulting complications than from all vaccine-preventable diseased combined. In fact, influenza and pneumonia combined are the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. This year, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for the CDC has expanded their recommendations for annual influenza vaccination to include all people aged 6 months and older. The VaxAmerica-Pharmacy Select clinics will have vaccinations available for individuals 4 years and older. Also available for seniors aged 65 years and older will be a new high-dose influenza vaccine from manufacturer sanofipasteur.

Pharmacy Select has begun marketing the VaxAmerica program immediately to its 4,000 member pharmacies, and patients will be able to reserve their flu shot on the VaxAmerica online scheduler.
