VCT Among the First ICMA EcoLabel Licensees

DOWNERS GROVE, IL--(Marketwire - November 30, 2010) -  VCT, a global manufacturer and world leader in plastic card production and related services, announced it has become one of the first ICMA EcoLabel licensees as part of ICMA's newly launched EcoLabel Standard Program.

Due to growing consumer and card issuer demand for green products, ICMA created the EcoLabel Standard Program to help evaluate the environmental performance of a manufacturer's cards through a third-party ecolabeling certification process. VCT's Karen Henk was heavily involved in the ICMA's Green Task Force, which developed the EcoLabel Program through an open process involving collaboration among card manufacturers, card personalization vendors, suppliers and issuers from around the world. Designed in compliance with ISO provisions for international principles and procedures of environmental labels and declarations, the ICMA EcoLabel Standard Program offers a variety of benefits to licensees, including the ability to label qualifying cards with the ICMA EcoLabel seal.

"It is an honor to be one of the first licensees of the ICMA EcoLabel Standard Program," said Merrill Martin, Chief Operating Officer at VCT-NJ. "Achieving this designation will truly help us respond to consumers demand for greener products and will help create new business opportunities in the marketplace."
