Vecima Establishes Software Development Expansion Facility in India

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - April 26, 2007) - Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM), a leading Last Mile Solution® provider for broadband wireless and broadband wired networks, announces today the opening of a new software development expansion facility in Mangalore, India. The company has made this strategic decision as a result of its rapid growth and increased requirements for high performance embedded software design. The 8,000 square foot facility immediately adds about 10 personnel to Vecima's growing software research and development team. Vecima expects the new facility to increase its staffing to approximately 50 personnel within a few months while continuing to build upon its base of software development engineers in Saskatoon. The company now employs over 670 people, the vast majority of whom are based in Saskatoon, including approximately 140 research and development staff.

"The new software facility in India will immediately add critical resources to further Vecima's in-house software development capabilities," said Dr. Surinder Kumar, Vecima's Chairman and CEO. "As Vecima's growth continues, we anticipate our demand for software personnel to increase and this new facility in Mangalore provides us direct access to a world-class pool of talent."

Mangalore, situated on India's southwest coast, was chosen for its large number of technology focused educational institutions, providing Vecima access to a growing pool of highly skilled workers. The new software research expansion facility marks Vecima's second corporate location in Asia following the opening of an Asia-Pacific Regional Sales Headquarters in Australia in May 2005.

About Vecima Networks

Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) designs, manufactures and sells products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless and telephony networks. Vecima's hardware products incorporate original embedded software to meet the complex requirements of next-generation, high-speed digital networks. The Company has also developed and continues to focus on developing products to address emerging markets such as Voice over Internet Protocol, fibre to the home and IP video.
