Vecima Launches the HyperQAM Universal Edge QAM

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - June 12, 2007) - Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM), leading Last Mile Solution® provider for cable broadband networks, announces today the launch of HyperQAM™, its next-generation Universal Edge QAM. The Vecima HyperQAM is ideally suited for deployments of Switched Digital Video, M-CMTS and DOCSIS 3.0. The HyperQAM is able to simultaneously support high speed data, broadcast video and VOD services in the same chassis.

The HyperQAM features exceptional redundancy and modularity, is fully software upgradeable and is a reliable solution for any operator planning value-added video or data services. With 128 fully DRFI compliant QAM outputs in 2 rack units, the highly compact design allows operators to do more with less. The scaleable platform allows outputs to be added in increments of 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8, permitting a pay-as-you-grow philosophy - affordable even at lower densities.

"The HyperQAM presents a compelling solution to service providers who demand a cost effective, robust, and scaleable Edge QAM solution that will meet their networks' requirements for carrier class reliability and rich feature sets for DOCSIS 3.0 M-CMTS and switched digital video deployments," said Sumit Kumar, Vice President of Corporate Strategy of Vecima. "Vecima has harnessed our longstanding position as a leading provider of DOCSIS QAMs, upconverters and IP Edge devices coupled with our RF expertise to deliver a best in class Edge QAM solution."

"Cable operators are facing a sea change in that they are evolving from video providers to experience providers in a convergent environment. The HyperQAM simplifies and facilitates this transition by providing a universal, powerful, and future-proof platform addressing all QAM needs," said Mr. Kumar.

Vecima will debut the HyperQAM at the SCTE CableTec Expo (June 20-22, 2007, Booth No. 549).

About Vecima Networks

Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) designs, manufactures and sells products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless and telephony networks. Vecima's hardware products incorporate original embedded software to meet the complex requirements of next-generation, high-speed digital networks. Service providers use Vecima's solutions to deliver services to a converging worldwide broadband market, including what are commonly known as "triple play" (voice, video and data) and "quadruple play" (voice, video, data and wireless) services. Vecima's solutions allow service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively bridge the final network segment that connects the system directly to end users, commonly referred to as "the last mile", by overcoming the bottleneck resulting from insufficient carrying capacity in legacy, last mile infrastructures. Vecima's products are directed at three principal markets: Data over Cable, Broadband Wireless and Digital Video. The Company has also developed and continues to focus on developing products to address emerging markets such as Voice over Internet Protocol, fibre to the home and IP video.
