Vecima Showcases Commercially Deployable WiMAX Solutions at WiMAX World 2007 Conference and Exposition

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 25, 2007) - Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM), leading Last Mile Solution® provider for broadband wireless networks, is pleased to showcase the VistaMAX™ lineup of products based upon the IEEE 802.16-2004 wireless standard at the WiMAX World 2007 Conference and Exposition.

The VistaMAX™ family is commercially deployable in 1.75MHz, 3.5MHz, and 7MHz channel sizes in both 3.5GHz and 1.9GHz spectrum. Using an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) air interface enables true non line of sight (NLOS) connectivity, providing up to 22Mbps of net throughput in a 7MHz channel. Using WiMAX, quality of service (QoS) can be configured easily allowing for various QoS streams supporting multiple applications through each subscriber. Vecima has sold WiMAX units to 20 countries with deployments on five continents. VistaMAX™ products are currently available for the 1.9GHz and 3.5GHz bands with a 5GHz version planned.

"WiMAX is well suited to solve many of the problems inherent in other wireless technologies having been designed from the ground up as a standard tailored for wide area broadband wireless. Competing technologies such has municipal WiFi have meanwhile suffered a number of issues recently," said Robert Forget, Director of Wireless Sales. "Vecima's VistaMAX™ family of products is ideally positioned for carrier grade network deployments across multiple verticals and supports varied applications for commercial, government and enterprise customers."

WiMAX serves as a robust infrastructure for single technology deployments and the standard also enables convergence of IP solutions to better suit wide scale deployments. Serving as the backbone of a WiFi hotspot network, or allowing remote surveillance and communications for public safety, WiMAX delivers broadband as a ubiquitous option.

Vecima will also showcase the LMS8000 series, the next generation of the 900MHz WaveRider Last Mile Solution, at WiMAX World. The WaveRider product line offers a self-installable indoor CPE, a ruggedized outdoor CPE and a mobile unit for in-vehicle use. The next generation LMS8000 equipment is based on OFDM technology providing adaptive modulation for better link budget and offering subscriber throughputs of up to 8Mbps in a 5.5MHz channel. With increased throughput and full QoS capabilities, the WaveRider line allows for voice and data deployments without the need to purchase spectrum. With over 70,000 units deployed, WaveRider is a proven technology for the unlicensed market.

About Vecima Networks

Vecima Networks Inc. (TSX:VCM) designs, manufactures and sells products that enable broadband access to cable, wireless and telephony networks. Vecima's hardware products incorporate original embedded software to meet the complex requirements of next-generation, high-speed digital networks. Service providers use Vecima's solutions to deliver services to a converging worldwide broadband market, including what are commonly known as "triple play" (voice, video and data) and "quadruple play" (voice, video, data and wireless) services. Vecima's solutions allow service providers to rapidly and cost-effectively bridge the final network segment that connects the system directly to end users, commonly referred to as "the last mile", by overcoming the bottleneck resulting from insufficient carrying capacity in legacy, last mile infrastructures. Vecima's products are directed at three principal markets: Data over Cable, Broadband Wireless and Digital Video. The Company has also developed and continues to focus on developing products to address emerging markets such as Voice over Internet Protocol, fibre to the home and IP video.
