Vello Hosts Webinar on Cable Opportunity to Build Cloud Services

Technology Leaders at Dell, VMWare, Vello Discuss Virtualization in the Cloud

MENLO PARK, CA--(Marketwire - Oct 25, 2011) - Vello Systems will host a panel discussion with Dell and VMware tomorrow, Wednesday, October 26, engaging cable operators and service providers with solutions to help them build and deploy cloud services for their enterprise customers. The webcast, consisting of presentations and a panel discussion from representatives of leading cloud solution providers, Dell, VMware, and Vello Systems, will focus on the design principles cable operators should consider when deploying cloud services, emphasizing practical examples of data center and data center interconnect solutions to handle enterprise transaction rates and traffic volumes in a scalable, highly available and manageable multi-tenant environment.

Cloud architectures, including virtualized compute, storage, and networking services, are increasingly predominating in data centers, presenting new value-added enterprise business opportunities for cable providers beyond simple connectivity.

Panelists in the Vello webinar include Mark Clifton, director of cloud strategy for Dell; Ravindra Neelakant, technology evangelist for VMware; and Harry Petty, vice president, marketing and business development for Vello Systems. Each will present a solutions overview for the cable provider technical audience, and the three presentations will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

Mark Clifton of Dell, the #1 cloud infrastructure provider today, will kick off the webcast by presenting the philosophy behind Dell's value-added portfolio of cloud solutions, services and products used to provision essential compute, storage and connectivity services in a multi-tenant cloud architecture, while ensuring business continuance and compliance with cloud services such as disaster recovery and security. Mark Clifton has been driving virtualization and cloud at Dell for eight years. He previously held roles as a Director of Strategy for Dell's Next Generation Datacenter, Strategist for Virtualization and a Senior Manager in IT.

Ravindra Neelakant of VMware, the industry leader in virtualization, will describe how service providers can generate new revenues by offering public cloud services that complement enterprise customers' private VMware-based cloud infrastructures, with public cloud services functionality they provide to their customers today. Ravindra Neelakant is a technology evangelist working with VMware's infrastructure partner ecosystem. He has been in the industry for 25 years, and has varied experience ranging from software development, scaling and modeling end-to-end solutions for performance, to technical marketing and product management.

Harry Petty of Vello Systems, a leading innovator in network virtualization, will show how essential public cloud services that complement private cloud infrastructures can be quickly deployed in the wide area using open, scalable software-defined networking standards that help operators meet objectives for capacity, compliance and cost. Harry Petty has over 20 years of experience in high-tech marketing, strategy and business development. Prior to Vello, he was at Brocade Communications where he was responsible for data center product marketing and launching Ethernet and Fibre Channel products.

The webinar takes place on Wednesday at 9am PDT, 11am CDT, and 12 noon EDT. To attend, go here to register.
