Vena Resources Retains MineFill Services for Azulcocha Scoping Study

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 2, 2007) - Vena Resources Inc.
(TSX VENTURE:VEM)(LIMA:VEM)(FRANKFURT:V1R)(OTCBB:VNARF) announces that MineFill Services, Inc. has been commissioned to prepare a scoping study for the rapidly advancing Azulcocha Zinc/Lead mine located in central Peru. MineFill will determine the potential financial impact of a scalable mill operation. The study should be completed by mid-February 2007 leading to a detailed engineering and feasibility study shortly thereafter. MineFill has been selected due to its wide range of experience in mining environments similar to Azulcocha and its track record in assisting companies of all sizes to evaluate deposits and mine plans to maximize returns. MineFill has been working in Peru since 1999 and as such they bring relevant experience and working knowledge of the current Peruvian operating cost environment. Given that Azulcocha operated for 20 years, MineFill will also focus its efforts to optimize the historical metallurgical flow-sheet to improve recoveries and will work with Vena's project team to help improve the ongoing surface and underground resource confirmation drill program.

MineFill Services, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Seattle, consults for mining companies worldwide including Western Mining, Barrick, AngloGold, Boliden, Bema Gold, Kennecott and others. MineFill is well versed in both underground and surface mine planning and feasibility studies. The Qualified Person responsible for the scoping study will be Dr. David Stone, P.Eng., President of MineFill Services. Dr. Stone has 25 years experience in the mining industry evaluating projects for junior mining companies. Dr. Stone will work closely with W. R. Henkle, P.Geo. who is working on expanding the existing 43-101 to include the Azulcocha underground workings as well as the ongoing Azulcocha West exploration with Glencore.

In related news, Vena is pleased to announce that Ing. Guillermo Rado Moza, a geologist with over 27 years of experience in exploration and mine management is joining the technical team in Peru. Ing. Rado holds a Masters Degree in Mining and Environmental Issues from the National Engineering University in Lima, Peru. Ing. Rado was previously Chief Geologist for Mina Raura a 2,300 tpd polymetallic operation in Peru. He also held senior positions at Minera Volcan and Centromin Peru. Ing Rado will lead the operational efforts at Azulcocha as Chief Geologist as well as Exploration Manager as part of the recently announced joint venture with Glencore in Azulcocha West.
