CHATSWORTH, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 3, 2013) - Venstar®, a leading thermostat and energy management systems supplier, today announced that it has added a new Supply Air Alert feature to its ColorTouch® residential (T5900) and commercial (T6900) thermostats.
The Supply Air Alert feature sends an email alert to the designated user when the supply air temperature (the air coming from the HVAC equipment) is not adequate. The user can set temperature thresholds for both heating and cooling.
"For users, receiving an alert saying that the supply air coming from the HVAC system is not within the set thresholds can be an early indication of equipment malfunction or failure," said Steve Dushane, Venstar's CEO. "The Supply Air Alert gives users an early heads up that equipment may need to be serviced, which helps avoid the equipment running inefficiently and unnecessarily increasing utility bills."
This new update comes standard with new ColorTouch residential and commercial thermostats T5900 (residential) and T6900 (commercial) models. Previous ColorTouch models T5800 (residential) and T6800 (commercial) can be updated through Venstar's Skyport™ cloud services. In fact, anytime a new ColorTouch update is available, a notification will appear on the thermostat screen along with simple prompts to help the user make the update.
Venstar also recently (6/13/13) announced its new Skyport firmware upgrade button, which allows users to remotely update the firmware for their ColorTouch thermostats anywhere in the world using the Skyport cloud services.
Venstar also offers a free ColorTouch mobile application, which allows users to remotely monitor and control their home or commercial thermostats. Compatible with Apple iPhone®, iTouch®, iPad®, BlackBerry® and Android™ devices, the ColorTouch thermostat with Skyport Wi-Fi Key is priced under $250 (estimated end-user cost).
