Venture Backed Catheter Connections Continues to Make False Statements, According to Ivera Medical

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 16, 2014) - In a press release dated September 12, 2014, Catheter Connections continued its pattern of misrepresentation, omission of key facts, and false statements. While the court in Salt Lake City did issue the referenced contempt order, Ivera seeks to correct the record.

Most importantly, this ruling does not impact Ivera's customers or end-users in any way. Contrary to what Catheter Connections has claimed, there is no confusion or risk of any disruption of supply. The "Rev. G" version of Curos® Tips that is the subject of the order, has not been manufactured or shipped since early July 2014. At that point, Ivera transitioned all manufacturing and shipping of Curos Tips to a further redesigned product referred to as "Rev. H," which is not subject to or affected by the court decision.

Catheter Connections is a Salt Lake City-based company and a Salt Lake City-based federal court found in its favor. "Ivera will respect the court's orders, but, at the same time, vigorously disagrees and has appealed the decision underlying this order," said Bob Rogers, CEO of Ivera Medical. "Ivera believes that the court erred in its original decision to issue a preliminary injunction against the old version of Curos Tips. Ivera further disagreed with the setting of a bond based on how much Catheter Connections could pay and not based on the injury to Ivera caused by the injunction. Ivera believes that this contempt order is similarly flawed and is counter to the policy of the patent laws to promote innovation."

"Catheter Connections appears set on trying to confuse the market, probably as a result of its inability to gain traction on the merits of its products. Recent independent laboratory studies prove that Catheter Connections' dark blue DualCap product fails to consistently disinfect key portions of male luer connectors. This testing establishes that Ivera's Curos Tips is the only disinfecting cap that actually works to disinfect all the critical points of a male luer. The release by Catheter Connections with such misleading information serves to demonstrate the desperation of this company," said Mr. Rogers.
