Verengo Solar, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GLA) Celebrate Partnership Providing Solar Power for Low Income Families

Verengo Featured Sponsor of Grand Opening of GLA's Downtown Headquarters

TORRANCE, CA--(Marketwired - August 27, 2015) - Verengo Solar, the largest Southern California-based solar provider, today announced that it celebrated its ongoing partnership with GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GLA) at the recent ceremonies marking GLA's new LA Solar Program and its new warehouse headquarters in downtown Los Angeles.

Since 2007 GLA has done over 900 installs of solar electric systems for low-income families in Southern California. This year, with the April launch of GLA's LA Solar Program, more than twenty families living in underserved communities in the city of Los Angeles have now been able to participate in GRID's program. Verengo is supporting GLA's solar power installation effort through donations and volunteerism.

"Verengo greatly values its partnership with GRID Alternatives -- both as an active sponsor as well as through our company volunteers," said Verengo CEO Anders Dahl. "As the largest Southern California-based solar provider, we are privileged to work with GLA as they help working families reduce their electricity costs. Rooftop solar has changed the face of California's power market by lowering utility bills for every segment of society."

"Verengo understands the importance of shared community commitment and no organization does more to bring affordable solar power to low income neighborhoods than GRID Alternatives," added Verengo Marketing Director, Chris Haynie. (see picture)

"For the past four years Verengo volunteers have helped GRID Alternatives to bring low cost power to families across Southern California," said GLA Executive Director, Michael Kadish. "Our work at GRID Alternatives is not possible without the strong support of local companies such as Verengo Solar. We're particularly pleased they could help sponsor the opening of our Downtown Los Angeles office."

For the evening of the opening of GLA's new home, a downtown warehouse on Flower St. was transformed from a working solar warehouse into an event space filled with nearly 200 guests ranging from members of partner community groups and job training organizations to individual philanthropic supporters. Among the attendees were the GLA's Board of Directors, and representatives from Los Angeles Conservation Corps, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Southern California Edison, Homeboy Industries, Habitat for Humanity as well as Verengo Solar. Homegirl Café & Catering provided the food for the festivity.
