VERGNET : Hurricane Dean: Vergnet wind-turbines prove their efficiency

SARAN, FRANCE--(Marketwire - August 31, 2007) - PRESS RELEASE

Hurricane Dean in Guadeloupe and Martinique :

VERGNET wind-turbines once again prove their efficiency

Saran (France), 31 August 2007 - On 16th August 2007, with hurricane Dean approaching, VERGNET SA - through its subsidiary VERGNET CARAIBES, proceeded to bring down into safety position the 216 wind-turbines of the 15 wind farms commissioned in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Cuba within 14 hours.

This operation was the 21st anti-cyclonic procedure carried out successfully by the Group since 1993. Although this violent cyclone caused numerous material damages and induced a power outage of more than 50% of the electric distribution system in Martinique, no damages were reported on the turbines. The wind turbines have been gradually going back into production since Monday 20th August.

The VERGNET range of wind turbines, developed under proprietary technology, has once again proved to be the only solution suitable for cyclonic areas. The genuine involvement of the neighboring populations in the installation and maintenance of the wind farms helps to ensure an optimum reactivity in case of a meteorological alert and confirms the efficiency of the management model implemented by the VERGNET group.

VERGNET SA was founded in 1988 by its current CEO, Marc Vergnet, a leading figure in sustainable development.

Today, VERGNET is the leading manufacturer in its two business areas: designing and manufacturing wind turbines for the FARWIND® market, and water supply equipment for Africa.

Relying on its unique patented technologies, the Group has installed 500 FARWIND® wind turbines to date, and supplies water to over 40 million people all over the world.

The recent surge in the price of oil has spurred the expansion of VERGNET's FARWIND® wind-turbine market, which consists of vast areas (in over 130 countries, home to 1.5 billion people) where electricity is mainly produced from oil, and limited infrastructure and logistics make it impractical to install conventional wind turbines.

With nine companies covering much of the world (France, the Caribbean, the Pacific region, the Indian Ocean and Africa), and a staff of 167, the Vergnet Group had sales revenue of 37.7 million euros and net profit of 1.2 million euros in 2006.

The Group is accelerating its growth with the development of a new generation of 1 MW wind turbines and an innovative range of water supply and treatment equipment. Relying on its newly-expanded range and the strong potential in its markets, the Group intends to raise its sales revenue by 60% a year starting in 2008, and significantly increase its operating margin.

VERGNET is listed on Alternext since June 12, 2007 (Codes: ISIN FR0004155240 - Reuters ALVER.PA - Bloomberg ALVER:FP).
