Veria Living Network Signs Yogi Cameron, Yogic Master, International Author & Former High-Fashion Supermodel, to Host New Primetime Series

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Oct 3, 2011) - The newly branded Veria Living television network has encapsulated its new direction by signing yogic master, international author and former high-fashion supermodel Yogi Cameron ("The Guru in You") to a new series with the working title of A Guru for You. The series is expected to premiere in Spring 2012.

Cameron is one of the world's leading experts of Ayurveda and yoga, as well as the favorite yoga teacher of Ellen DeGeneres and frequent guest on her weekday U.S. talk show, as well as The Dr. Oz Show and The Today Show. He is in preproduction with 13 episodes in a deal also announced at MIPCOM today in Cannes, France.

In spearheading the network's new brand identity, Veria Living's General Manager Hal Rosenberg sought Cameron's proficiency as a healer and his personal charisma to join the roster of primetime talent on the network in early 2012.

"Cameron is internationally recognizable and, with his established expertise in Ayurveda and yoga, he embodies the new 'pop wellness' focus of Veria Living," says Rosenberg. "We plan to bring well-known celebrity faces to primetime and signing Cameron, to go with the likes of Jewel (host of 'The Incurables') and Deion Sanders (host of 'Sports Dads'), is another big step in that direction."

"I feel extremely fortunate that Veria Living has afforded me the opportunity to help individuals to achieve balance with this new series," says Cameron, born in Iran as Cameron Alborzian to an English mother and Iranian father. "The show will make the most of my training in Ayurveda and yoga, the two oldest forms of medicine and meditation, with useful, practical tools for the public to create new and healthy habits. Serious, humorous and entertaining, the series will inspire the viewer to participate at home through action."

In his new reality series, Cameron will meet with individuals with a variety of health issues. Examples include: chronic fatigue, insomnia, depression, headaches, anxiety, fibromyalgia, digestive issues, back pain, allergies, diabetes, high blood pressure and difficulty concentrating, among others. In each case, Cameron gets to the root of the issue and applies Ayurvedic and yogic principles in putting the subjects back on the road to wellness.

In the late 1980s, Cameron got his start as a fashion model on the runways of Paris and emerged in the fashion industry as one of the world's top male models, working for designers such as Jean Paul Gautier and Versace. He was featured in a three-season Guess Jeans campaign that caught the attention of Madonna. The pop icon sought Cameron out to star in her "Express Yourself" video, which won the 1989 MTV Best Video Award. Cameron highlighted his modeling career with a visit to Nelson Mandela, who had just been released from prison, at his home in South Africa and made a video with Elton John and Kate Moss in memory of Princess Diana.

His greatest achievement may have come when he decided to leave the material world of high fashion at the height of his popularity in 1998 and investigate the world of yoga, meditation and the ancient art of Ayurvedic healing. What he learned changed his life, and after years of study in New York City and India, he now works with a variety of clients to bring balance, improved health and serenity to their lives. His website -- Yogicameron.com -- has become an interactive hub and portal for health, wellbeing, spirituality, and general guidance on all matters of lifestyle. Cameron also recently partnered up with HarperCollins to release his highly anticipated book "The Guru In You," which came out earlier this year.
