Verimatrix Provides End-to-End Security Solution for SES AMERICOM's IP-PRIME Content Distribution Platform

Advanced VCAS Capabilities Enable Turnkey IPTV Delivery for IP-PRIME

ANAHEIM, CA--(Marketwire - November 11, 2008) - TelcoTV 08 -- Booth #827 -- Verimatrix, setting the standard in content security technologies that enhance the value of pay-TV networks, today announced that SES AMERICOM is adopting the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS®) for IPTV content security for the IP-PRIME® distribution service targeted to North American telecom operators. Providing end-to-end content security for flexible combinations of centralized or distributed subscriber architectures is an essential component of the technology roadmap for VCAS for IPTV.

Contributing to the demonstration of VCAS for IPTV, SES AMERICOM is providing live television feeds of IP-PRIME to Verimatrix's booth #827 at the TelcoTV 2008 being held Nov. 11-13 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Orange County, CA.

Verimatrix is providing a comprehensive security architecture that enables end-to-end encryption for multi-channel SD and HD broadcasts from the IP-PRIME Broadcast Center, while enabling seamless integration of local broadcast and Video-on-Demand (VOD) services. This solution, compatible with the Nokia Siemens Networks' Home Entertainment IPTV middleware, will allow operators the ability to roll out a complete package of IPTV services quickly and at cost savings never before thought possible.

Alan Young, CTO of SES AMERICOM, said, "Verimatrix has proven expertise in the content security arena, and has been a great partner supporting the integration of VCAS into the IP-PRIME platform."

VCAS for IPTV 2.3 can support small or large scale deployments, and has been enhanced to support a variety of wholesale/reseller configurations. This type of support is key for the particular structure of the North American market where local telecommunications carriers do not always have the resources to build their own video headends. Addressing the challenge in these smaller markets means enabling central content aggregation and distribution, while offering options for local content and control over the subscriber interface. From a security perspective, it is important that the multi-tier distribution does not create any security holes and provides a straightforward path for security upgrades, such as user-specific forensic watermarking, in the client devices.

"We've always planned for end-to-end content security for flexible combinations of IPTV wholesale architectures in our technology roadmap for VCAS," said Bob Kulakowski, CTO at Verimatrix. "SES AMERICOM presented us with a complex system challenge. Our cost-effective software security approach and our ability to rapidly integrate with key partners made VCAS for IPTV at natural fit for this business model."
