Verner-based co-op to manage Manitoulin Co-op interim

GORE BAY, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 11, 2005) - Manitoulin Co-op
will be managed by neighbouring Nipissing Sudbury Co-op while a new
general manager is sought, announced John McNaughton, president of the
island co-op.

Dennis O'Connor resigned as the Gore Bay-based co-operative's general
manager last month to attend to a family member's health concerns.
O'Connor will relocate within the FS System in Southwestern Ontario.

"The board of directors thanks Dennis for his service this past year,
and wishes him and his family the best," says McNaughton. "We're
grateful to Co-operative Regionale de Nipissing Sudbury Limited for
helping us during this change."

Manitoulin Livestock Co-operative was incorporated in 1944 and is owned
by close to 2,000 members. The co-operative has revenue exceeding $16
million and assets of about $4 million.

The business consists of two retail locations, a cattle sale facility,
and a bulk petroleum business. The co-operative also has Valu-Mart
grocery stores in Gore Bay and Little Current. Manitoulin Co-op is a
member-owner of the regional wholesale supply co-operative, GROWMARK,
Inc.
