Versata Announces Versata® 6 BRMS Version 6.3 for Implementation of Business Rules

Versata's Latest BRMS Release Offers Enhanced Developer Productivity, Development of Services, Decision Rules and Process Rules

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - February 20, 2008) - Versata Enterprises, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise software solutions, today unveils Versata BRMS Version 6.3, the latest release of Versata's powerful and complete business rules software. BRMS Version 6.3 delivers significant performance improvements, and introduces a new suite of productivity and connectivity tools.

Versata BRMS enables IT organizations to build and maintain J2EE Online Transaction Processing applications with an 80% reduction in cost and risk. BRMS delivers this remarkable advantage by automating a full breadth of rules (including unique transaction and presentation rules, as well as traditional decision and process rules), coupled with an enterprise-class services oriented framework for performance and extensibility.

In addition to the 80% reduction in cost and risk, made possible with automation rates that consistently exceed 95%, Versata BRMS enables IT organizations to deliver strategic business value through the delivery of agile software applications.

Versata 6.3 provides significant capability improvements including:

-- Componentized Business Objects - The Versata BRMS Data Model is
extended to support inheritance of structure and rule-based behavior, with
flexible Object / Relational Mappings. This simplifies and clarifies rule
development, and provides important mechanisms for Solution Providers to
enable Solution Consumers to customize solutions with the ability to
    smoothly integrate future versions.
-- Improved debug cycle time - Developers can now test their applications
using a lightweight Web Server, which eliminates the delay associated with
Application Server deployment. Debug cycles are reduced by 90%.
-- Extension Kit - Versata 6.3 is packaged with a set of Server Logic
Extensions which automate several patterns discovered in various customer
applications, including bill of materials explosions, request patterns, and
    order payment disbursal.

"The latest release from Versata helps improve our developer productivity by consolidating its model-driven development tooling and modularizing its build processes," said Sandeep Gupta, vice president, Equifax Enabling Technologies. "It provides us with the latest Web user interface capabilities as well as abstraction and extension functionality for building enterprise solutions with high reuse of enterprise assets."

Looking to 2008, the BRMS Roadmap includes:

-- Adoption of JSF technology, whereby a developer can develop entire,
enterprise-class JSF applications from Eclipse-based site map drawings,
    without code.
-- Incorporation of Ajax technology for declarative development of novel
user interfaces such as maps and drawings.
-- Ability to specify rules in a visual interface. Such specifications
will include a mechanism to capturing user-driven requirements in the
context of business flows, with full traceability from requirements to the
    visualized rules.

"Versata always delivers technology that unlocks true business value that is critical to our customer's success," said Patrick Nichols, GM of Versata Business Automation. "The 6.3 release continues to set the bar for performance, scalability, and lowest cost of ownership. This is the first of several planned releases that will cut the overall cost of ownership in half for our customers."
