Vertigo Develops Bing | Jay-Z Decoded Online Experience in Partnership With Droga5

Vertigo Brings Bing Maps to Life in Ground-Breaking Jay-Z 'Decoded' Interactive Campaign

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - November 1, 2010) -  Vertigo today announced its role in developing the Microsoft Bing® search experience and interactive game to promote Jay-Z's upcoming memoir, Decoded. Droga5 selected Vertigo as its primary technology partner to bring their vision to life in the form of an online, location-based scavenger hunt, as part of a broad, integrated marketing campaign.

As the lead technology partner, Vertigo developed the entire web experience using Microsoft Silverlight including integrating with Bing Search and Bing Maps, as well as mobile providers that delivered the mobile experience and SMS interface. The integrated Bing Search feature allows users to 'decode' clues to identify page locations. From there, the Bing Maps experience allows users to find locations via an aerial map or dimensional view using Bing Streetside, which gives the user the feeling of actually traveling down the streets and neighborhoods to locate pages of Decoded.

"Vertigo immediately understood our vision and the depth of the user experience we were trying to create. We look forward to an opportunity to partner with them again in the near future," said Andrew Essex, CEO of Droga5. Eric Hadley, General Manager for Microsoft Bing, had this to say about Vertigo: "Once again, Vertigo delivered by showcasing the innovative capabilities of Microsoft Bing as a platform within a compelling and immersive experience."

"We've built a lot of high profile sites around live video experiences, but this was one of the largest interactive campaigns we've been a part of," said Scott Stanfield, CEO of Vertigo. "We were thrilled to partner with Droga5 to promote Jay-Z's new book and to have the opportunity to continue our work with Microsoft Bing by delivering this truly unique experience." Over the next 19 days, fans can compile an online version of Decoded by finding pages, before it's released in bookstores on November 16. The grand prize is a ticket to see Jay-Z and Coldplay in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.
