Vertigo Mixes It Up With Windows® Phone 7 Series and Microsoft Silverlight

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - March 16, 2010) -  Vertigo announced today the company's plans to develop consumer and enterprise mobile experiences for Windows® Phone 7 Series at Microsoft Corp.'s MIX10 Conference. In anticipation of the launch of Windows Phone 7 Series in holiday 2010, Vertigo has been quietly working with the Windows Phone 7 Series for key media and entertainment clients.

Unlike competing smart phones, Windows Phone 7 Series combines Microsoft Silverlight for rich Internet applications (RIAs) and the XNA Framework for game development, which provides an end-to-end mobile development platform based on a familiar programming language and toolset. "Windows Phone 7 Series will enable Vertigo to build on our strength of designing user experiences for a variety of form factors, while leveraging our agile engineering process on the familiar Silverlight development platform," said Paul Osburn, Engineering Director for Vertigo's Touch practice. "The addition of XNA for 3D and game development raises the bar both in terms of what's possible, and the types of applications we can develop, with few limitations."

With a sleek, consumer-focused user experience, Windows Phone 7 Series represents a fresh alternative to current providers. But that's just the tip of the iceberg for Vertigo. As Silverlight market adoption steadily accelerates, Vertigo sees using Silverlight to help increase the portability of line of business applications as they begin to gain momentum within the enterprise.

"With the introduction of Windows Phone 7 Series, Microsoft has delivered a powerful development platform that extends from the Web, to desktop and mobile devices, with Silverlight as the common thread," said Scott Stanfield, CEO of Vertigo. "The maturity and extensibility of the platform complements our diverse experience in developing solutions ranging from rich Internet applications and media solutions, such as Deep Zoom photo viewers and video players using Internet Information Services (IIS) Smooth Streaming, to Touch-enabled solutions for Microsoft Surface, Windows® 7 Touch, and now, Windows Phone 7 Series."

As an early adopter of Microsoft technologies and one of the first development firms to embrace Silverlight, Vertigo has a longstanding history of delivering engaging and immersive experiences for both the Web, and the emerging landscape of Touch interfaces and devices. The proliferation of multi-touch has placed renewed emphasis on designing context-aware experiences that provide relevant information, and ensure that the right options are literally at your fingertips.
