Veteran Educator and School Superintendent Robert-Wayne Harris Joins Teq as VP of Professional Development


HUNTINGTON, NY--(Marketwired - Jul 8, 2014) - Teq, the leading educational technology and professional development firm, today announced that Robert-Wayne Harris joined the company as Vice President of Professional Development. Mr. Harris served as Superintendent of the Roosevelt School District, in Long Island, NY, and has received national recognition for his leadership and ability to bring reform and improvement in student achievement in low performing school districts.

With more than 20 years experience as an educator, Mr. Harris has excelled at building teams and leveraging technology to drive teacher effectiveness and improve student engagement. In his recent position as Superintendent at Roosevelt School District, Mr. Harris successfully built a solid infrastructure of technology and professional development services. Prior to that, he was Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, School Improvement, Professional Development and Planning for Freeport Public Schools, where he led the development, planning, and implementation of all curriculum and instructional programs. Before that, Mr. Harris was Associated Director/Educational Planning Administrator for the Long Island Regional School Support Center/Nassau BOCES. 

He also has extensive teaching experience, including as a teacher in the Uniondale School District (7-12th grade social studies) and as teacher/mentor (9-12th grade social studies) in the Upward Bound program at Hofstra University. Among his many other jobs/roles as an educator, Mr. Harris has served as a Substitute Teacher, Teacher Assistant; Dean's Office, Staff Developer, Curriculum Writer, Educational Planning Administrator; Professional Developer; Presenter, Planner, Evaluator for the New York State Education Dept.'s initiative on Comprehensive District Education planning, and more.

Robert-Wayne Harris holds a B.A. in Political Science from Howard University, a M.S. in Education from Hofstra University, M.S. in Administration and Supervision from the College of New Rochelle, and is currently completing a Doctorate of Education Leadership and Policy (Ed.D.) at Hofstra University. He is the recipient of the Educational Excellence Award, SCOPE's Instructional Leadership and Inspiration Award, Named Who's Who Among American Administrators and Professionals, and was featured in the New York Times article, "Troubled School District Is on the Road to Recovery."
