Veterans Advantage Launches Video Contest Awarding Free Trip for 2 to New York City Veterans Day Parade in 2011

Veterans Advantage Members Encouraged to Create a Patriotic Video and Win the Opportunity to Ride in Next Year's NYC Veterans Day Parade on 11/11/11

GREENWICH, CT--(Marketwire - November 11, 2010) - In recognition of New York City's Veterans Day Parade, Veterans Advantage announced today that it is giving away a free trip for two to New York for a Veterans Advantage Card member to ride aboard the Veterans Advantage float up Fifth Avenue in the 2011 Veterans Day Parade.

Through a special patriotic video contest, which recognizes member benefits and the spirit of service, Veterans Advantage will select one of its members and a guest to join the nationwide membership organization for U.S. Active Duty Military, Veterans, National Guard & Reserve and their families at the 2011 New York City Veterans Day Parade. Hotels, meals and transportation to NYC will be provided.

"Through our ongoing support of the New York City Veterans Day Parade and with our Veterans Advantage float, we have this meaningful opportunity for our video contest winner to experience the special event in New York," said Scott Higgins, founder and CEO of Veterans Advantage, and a Vietnam Veteran. "On what promises to be a very special day, we will be delighted to have the winning member and their guest join us at the 11/11/11 event."

Aside from the grand prize, the trip for two to New York City for a Veterans Advantage Card member and a guest, the company is also offering over $3,000 more in additional runner-up prizes, Apple iPads and four 5 year Veterans Advantage memberships.

Veterans Advantage said its Members-Only contest is to be awarded to the member who best exhibits the value of their savings with Veterans Advantage or describes what being a Veterans Advantage member means to them in a 1-minute video clip of themselves, and/or fellow servicemen and women, and family members.

Members can create the video, upload it to YouTube or their own hosting provider, and send Veterans Advantage the link for review. Only submissions from current Veterans Advantage members will be reviewed, and there is no charge for the member to enter the contest.

The company's linkage with the Veterans Day parade and other New York City Veterans-related causes has been ongoing since the early 1980s. The company was founded over 10 years ago, and its CEO, Scott Higgins, is a Vietnam Veteran and former co-chairman of the New York City Vietnam Veterans Memorial Commission, which established the NYC Vietnam Veteran Memorial located downtown on Water Street. While still spearheading the Commission in May 1985, Higgins was able to organize a "Welcome Home Parade" up Broadway ten years after the war's end, which, at that time, was the largest ticker tape in New York City history. The grand prizewinner and guest will also receive a private tour of the NYC Vietnam Veterans Memorial by CEO Higgins, and be invited to attend other New York City Veteran's Day's observances with the company.

"We are proud supporters of this year's parade's organizers, the United War Veterans Council, led by Vincent McGowan, and we are happy to lend our support of this emotionally stirring and rewarding event through the Veterans Advantage Card program," Higgins added.
