Veterans Affairs Minister Meets with Mississauga Veterans

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 1, 2005) - The Honourable Albina Guarnieri, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today met with local Veterans to discuss issues of concern to them.

"Today's meeting is one in a series of roundtables I'm having with Veterans in communities across Canada," said Minister Guarnieri. "My objective has been to give Veterans the opportunity to share their thoughts about my department's programs and services. The roundtables have also given me the opportunity to thank some of the men and women who have served their country so proudly, and who have since worked to build strong communities like Mississauga."

The Minister took the opportunity to talk about the New Veterans Charter, a comprehensive "wellness package" designed to provide Canadian Forces Veterans with the best opportunity for a successful transition to civilian life - which will benefit not only themselves, but also their families. For more information on the Veterans Charter, please visit the Veterans Affairs Canada Web site at www.vac-acc.gc.ca.

The Minister met with local Veterans at the Veterans Affairs Canada District office in Mississauga.

2005 is the Year of the Veteran: Celebrate. Honour. Thank. Remember. Teach.
