The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Veterans Affairs, kicked off a three-day Ontario tour by visiting one of the largest Veterans facilities in the country, the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Minister Blaney, accompanied by John Carmichael, Member of Parliament for Don Valley West, had the opportunity to visit and speak with resident Veterans and their families, caregivers and staff.

"It is an honour to meet with Veterans and the staff at Sunnybrook who provide them with the exceptional care they deserve," said Minister Blaney. "Our Veterans are our nation's truest heroes and the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre allows them to live comfortable and fulfilling lives."

Following the tour, Minister Blaney and Mr. Carmichael had lunch with the Family Advisory Council, a small group of Veterans and Sunnybrook officials. They took this time to discuss and answer questions related to long-term care and support to caregivers.

"As we are always looking for ways to improve service to Veterans and their families, it is important to hear from different stakeholders, such as the Family Advisory Council," said Minister Blaney. "Through the Government of Canada's longstanding partnership with Sunnybrook, we will continue to support Veterans by ensuring they receive the personalized long-term care they need and deserve."

Sunnybrook, in partnership with the Government of Canada, has been proudly serving the needs of Veterans since 1948, providing both acute and long-term care. One of the largest facilities of its kind, the hospital stands as a symbol of the nation's gratitude to our Veterans.
