Veterans Affairs Minister Visits Legion Branch in Hudson

HUDSON, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 2, 2005) - The Honourable Albina Guarnieri, Minister of Veterans Affairs, today visited with members of Branch 115 of The Royal Canadian Legion in Hudson, Quebec.

"I welcome occasions such as this to hear firsthand from Veterans those issues that are of concern to them," said the Minister. "My Cabinet colleagues and I benefit from their wisdom and unique perspective in our deliberations, not only on policies and programs affecting Veterans, but also on issues of interest to all Canadians. And as important, during this, the Year of the Veteran, I can offer my thanks for their courage and commitment to this great country."

The Minister took the opportunity to talk about the New Veterans Charter, a comprehensive "wellness package" designed to provide Canadian Forces Veterans with the best opportunity for a successful transition to civilian life - which will benefit not only themselves, but also their families.
