Veterinary Specialty Hospital Wraps 2010 With Several Milestones as It Looks Forward to 2011

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - December 30, 2010) - Veterinary Specialty Hospital (VSH) continues its status as the premier veterinary specialty hospital in the San Diego area serving the dog and cat pet population of San Diego County and beyond. Proudly celebrating its 20th anniversary, VSH provides the highest quality veterinary care to its patients and the ultimate client experience through a collaborative team approach of specialists, the family and the family veterinarian. Other significant milestones from this past year include the launch of a new interactive website, the successful first year anniversary of its North County facility, and the addition of its newest board-certified specialist, Dr. Sarena Sunico, radiologist.

Dr. Keith Richter, founder and co-administrator states, "We began in 1990 with one doctor and three staff. We now have 19 board-certified specialists in multiple disciplines including surgery, oncology, neurology, internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology and emergency/critical care and a highly dedicated and skilled team of technicians. I am proud and honored by the support of the local veterinary community that allows us to continue to treat our area's pets so we can offer the latest, most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic treatments."

Dr. Sunico's unique skills will enhance service to the local referring veterinary partners through image interpretation, radiology rounds at the local veterinary clinics, and through the use of sophisticated diagnostic testing at the hospital using the latest ultrasound, Computed Tomography (CT) imaging and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment. The hospital's new website includes information on pet health, dog and cat emergency care, medical conditions and diseases, the various medical specialties and doctors' bios along with an entire section of information dedicated to the referring veterinary community.

Serving the North San Diego County residents and beyond, the North County hospital in San Marcos offers the same quality comprehensive care found in Sorrento Valley. Besides emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology and surgery are also available.

2011 will see even more accomplishments with the addition of Dr. Andi Flory, a board certified oncologist joining the team in February. Based mostly in the North County hospital, this will expand our oncology appointments to six days a week. Other initiatives include enhanced continuing education programs to the local veterinary community, and a robust program of clinical trials including cancer and surgical research."
