Veveo to Showcase Award-Winning Conversational Video Search Consumer App at CES 2014

Technology Recognized as an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwired - Dec 16, 2013) -  Veveo, a leading provider of semantic technologies to bridge the usability gap in connected devices and applications with intelligent search, discovery and personalization solutions, announced today that it will showcase its award-winning conversational video search app at CES 2014 (January 7-10, Las Vegas).

The Veveo conversational video search app, recently named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, is based on the first and only video discovery technology that combines the usability of a natural language, conversational interface with powerful Knowledge Graph-based semantic technology. In using the app for video discovery, users can ask naturally spoken questions and follow-up queries that the app will recognize as related. If the user changes a query's context or topic, the app recognizes the change and adapts search results accordingly. This way a user can talk naturally, and the app responds much like an intelligent person in a conversation. It is planned for release for consumer Android and iOS devices in 2014. A video demonstration of this technology can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jycxPVzE1H0&feature=plcp.

Veveo's conversational search app will be displayed at the Innovations Showcase in the Venetian at CES. Veveo will also be located in Eureka Park booth #74013 on Level 3 of the Venetian, and will hold private meetings in their Signature Suite at MGM Grand. Additionally, Veveo's Chief Marketing Officer, Sam Vasisht, will present at the Digital Hollywood Cable Conference at CES session, "The NexGen Entertainment Home Experience -- From the Smart & Connected TV to the Tablet, PVR, Smartphone & PC Experience" on Wednesday, January 8th, 2014 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

Veveo's app will provide a cutting-edge solution to the challenges currently prevalent in video search and discovery. In a world bursting with available content for viewing on multiple connected devices such as Smart TVs, smartphones and tablets, finding something to watch has become progressively challenging for users. In fact, recent research by Veveo shows that more than 85% of pay-TV subscribers surveyed noted that they turn off the TV without finding something to watch at least some of the time. The primary reason cited by consumers for this was the need for better search technology to successfully navigate through the myriad of available content. Veveo's new conversational video search app will make it much easier for users to find suitable content from their smartphones and tablets, freeing them up to watch more and spend less time finding content to watch. The technology is also being integrated into services offered by Tier-1 pay-TV providers and global device OEMs.
