VFA Demonstrates VFA.facility Software Interoperability Using Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE) Standard

Integration With Enterprise Asset Management Systems Critical Step Forward in Enabling Real Estate Industry to Function More Efficiently, Effectively

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2007) - VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management, today announced the completion of a successful demonstration of software interoperability using the OSCRE Standard for work order creation and fulfillment, an electronic data exchange model developed by the Open Standards Consortium for Real Estate (OSCRE). The intent of OSCRE is to develop, synthesize and adopt e-business standards that enable the real estate industry to function more effectively and efficiently in the digital economy.

In the pilot, VFA used the standard to enable its VFA.facility® facilities capital planning software to work successfully with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems. VFA.facility enables organizations to manage information about facility assets and use that information for capital projects, plans and budgets.

According to Andy Fuhrman, CEO of OSCRE, "We appreciate VFA's leadership, vision and support in driving open format standards forward for sharing information about real estate assets across multiple software applications. VFA recognizes the importance of OSCRE's mission to enable multiple software systems to seamlessly exchange data about real estate assets through the use of common standards. Working together, we are creating new processes that enable the sharing of lifecycle data about real property assets for greater efficiency, consistency and transparency." VFA has been a supporting member of OSCRE to help promote common software standards for the real estate industry since March 2007.

"Our clients have long needed data transfer among systems, but systems integration is challenging and expensive. VFA has been working with OSCRE to shorten development cycles, reduce the complexity of systems integration, and help our clients take better advantage of information about real property assets by creating interoperable data exchanges," said Melanie Ziegler, vice president of software development for VFA and a member of the OSCRE Facilities Management Workgroup, which focuses on building operations, maintenance, safety and security. "The OSCRE movement is gaining momentum as the commercial real estate sector seeks greater integration in its various business systems."
