VGTel - 360 Entertainment & Productions Acquires 4K Rights to 'Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa'; Braces for Ultra HD 4K Consumer Growth

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - October 02, 2014) - VGTel, Inc.(OTCQB: VGTL) -- The digital-scan and distribution rights to the David Breashears-directed, Giant Screen Film Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa have been acquired by VGTel - 360 Entertainment & Productions as it prepares for the worldwide launch of 4K UltraHD broadcast, the Company announced today.

"Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa is a technically exceptional film that will demonstrate our abilities to translate the UltraHD experience through our processes," said Greg Wells, CEO of VGTel - 360 Entertainment & Productions. "Kilimanjaro is a triumphant family film with amazing and memorable visuals. It will have enormous appeal to licensors and UHD broadcasters as we brace for the next wave of consumer demand, which is considerable."

The seminal Kilimanjaro is a popular climbing movie of recent era, and was directed by the award-winning Breashears, who earned international fame from his direction of Everest, among the highest-grossing, Giant Screen Films of all time.

In August, the Company announced the launch of its wholly owned subsidiary Motion Picture Scanning Services (MPSS) in Austin, Texas. MPSS is a state-of-the-art studio designed for the 4K digital scanning of theatrical content from its original format. Acquisition of Kilimanjaro strengthens VGTel - 360 Entertainment & Productions film inventory for distribution to 4K broadcasters, who are bracing for increasing consumer demand via the prevalent growth of new UltraHD broadcast channels, expected to push deep through Q1 2015.

"More 4K TV sets were shipped in Q2 '14 than shipped all year in 2013," said Wells, a claim supported by the most recent data from NPD DisplaySearch's Quarterly Global TV Shipment and Forecast Report. NPD revealed that 2.1 million sets were shipped in Q2, compared to 1.6 million in 2013. Brands introduced their 2014 models in Q2, with a clear focus on 4K as the "must-have" consumer feature for high-end television viewing.

Kilimanjaro is a 2002 mountain adventure film that depicts a band of trekkers as they journey through rugged terrain and extreme conditions to look out from Africa's highest point atop a dormant volcano. The film's large-format features demonstrate the talents of director Breshears, who became an experienced cinematographer working on such Hollywood classics as Cliffhanger and Seven Years in Tibet.

Wells said Kilimanjaro follows Giant Screen favorites Adrenaline Rush: The Science of Risk; Alaska: Spirit of the Wild; Amazing Journeys; and Bears which were released for the first time in 4K by VGTel earlier this year. "As 4K becomes the new standard in entertainment, we remain steadfast in our positioning as a major supplier of UHD content," Wells added.

Licensing for the VGTel - 360 Entertainment & Productions 4K titles is via Los Angeles-based distributor K2 Communications.
