VHA Inc. Expands Analytical Suite to Help Members Rapidly Improve Operational and System Performance

Enhanced VHA LYNX™ Suite Includes New Services, Capabilities and Mobile Platform to Provide Timely Access to Data and Information

IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - As health care providers identify ways to gain greater visibility into spending, seek direction on cost reduction activities and evaluate overall operational performance, VHA Inc., the national health care network, today announced the launch of VHA LYNX™, an enhanced version of VHA's analytical solutions. To promote industry transparency, transformational improvements and a true return on value, VHA's enhanced suite of solutions will help hospitals cut costs, optimize supply chain management and improve clinical performance.

Developed through collaboration with the country's leading health care institutions, new VHA LYNX applications include a pharmacy benchmarking solution, an end to end data completeness solution, a product designed to automate hospitals' value analysis process, an integrated procurement module and a new total spend management platform. Importantly, the addition of a new VHA LYNX mobile platform provides health care professionals with instant access to the insights they need most to maintain visibility into their cost reduction efforts. VHA will provide demonstrations of both the desktop and mobile versions at the 2011 VHA Leadership Conference, May 15 - 17 in San Diego, Calif.

"Hospitals are faced with decisions -- be it every minute, every hour or every day -- that impact their financial performance and clinical outcomes. Having transparency and understanding of performance helps with decision making on all types of initiatives," said Scott Downing, chief sales and marketing officer at VHA. "VHA's goal is to provide easy access -- to the insight needed -- to make the right decision at the right time."

"In today's challenging health care environment, we cannot effectively operate a strategic sourcing department without business intelligence," said Bob Boswell, vice president, supply chain operations at Ohio Health. "With VHA LYNX, we are more informed negotiators and are able to drive better results. And with no cumbersome equipment installs, we received immediate access."

Health care professionals are currently challenged due to the lack of pricing transparency that inevitably increases costs at a time when the industry seeks to drive cost reduction strategies and provide better patient care. VHA LYNX allows hospitals to have greater visibility and benchmark their performance relative to the market to reflect a true industry view.

"With VHA LYNX, we now we have a roadmap that our staff can use to identify, prioritize and focus our cost reduction efforts," Steve Graddy, chief financial officer at Freeman Health. "We didn't have the insight necessary before and we're confident that this visibility will arm us with better intelligence to negotiate with suppliers and make more informed purchasing decisions."

More than 1,400 health care organizations are currently leveraging VHA LYNX and VHA's analytical solutions have been rapidly adopted by customers throughout the industry. This powerful array of products and services already includes: VHA PriceLYNX™, VHA DataLYNX™, VHA PharmaLYNX™ VHA Physician PreferenceLYNX™, VHA ValueLYNX™ a contract catalog, plus supplemental services such as spend analysis, services analysis and pharmacy analysis that further improve members' cost saving opportunities.
