VHA Inc. Names Two New Board Members

IRVING, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 19, 2005 -- Two new members have been elected to the board of directors of VHA Inc. The new directors were elected at the annual VHA shareholder meeting, held this year in Atlanta.

The new members on VHA's board are:

--  John J. Finan, Jr., president and chief executive officer of
    Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System Inc., Baton Rouge, La.
--  Arthur A. Ushijima, president and chief executive officer, The Queen's
    Medical Center, Honolulu
    
"Our new board members offer a wealth of experience and expertise to VHA and understand the value VHA offers members," said Curt Nonomaque, president and chief executive officer of VHA. "VHA's objective is to help health care organizations improve their operational and clinical performance through supply chain management and member networks. John and Arthur can provide strategic counsel to VHA as we seek to leverage our core competencies to help members meet financial challenges and enhance the quality of care they offer."

Concluding their terms on the VHA board are:

--  Michelle Halyard, M.D., Department of Radiation Oncology, Mayo
    Foundation, Scottsdale, Ariz.
--  Ron Rees, President and CEO,  Halifax Community Health System, Port
    Orange, Fla.
--  Jim Varnum, President, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Alliance, Lebanon, N.H.
