Viator Launches Portuguese Language Website

Latest Local Language Site Extends Viator's Global Reach Into South America

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and LONDON--(Marketwire - Feb 23, 2012) - Viator, Inc., the leading resource for more than 9,000 tours and activities in 800-plus destinations in more than 150 countries, today announced the debut of a new local-language site -- Portuguese -- at www.br.viator.com. This latest addition to the Viator portfolio of local-language sites brings the total to nine, with sites successfully operating in French, German and Spanish since 2009; Danish, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish since 2010; and Japanese since early 2011.

Portuguese is the official language of Brazil, the fifth most populous country in the world with more than 192 million residents, approximately 40 percent of which are internet users.

"The ability to provide Portuguese-speaking travelers with our global selection of tours and activities in their native language presents an excellent opportunity for Viator's international expansion," said Dan Hart, Viator general manager for Europe and Asia. "Brazilians are the most engaged online users in Latin America and with 20 percent year-over-year growth in internet users from 2010 to 2011*; we see great potential for Viator in this burgeoning international online market."

Bookings on the new site, available in the Brazilian Real, have been strong, with some of the most popular Viator activities trending among the favorites with Portuguese-speaking travelers. Top tours being booked on www.br.viator.com include the Orlando Sunrise Hot-Air Balloon Ride, Vina del Mar and Valparaiso Day Trip from Santiago and Chichen Itza Day Trip from Cancun. Destinations trending among the most popular on the Portuguese-language site are Las Vegas, New York City and Paris. Many of Viator's most popular tours are now offered with a Portuguese-language option.

The Portuguese-language site, as with the entire selection of local-language sites, maintains the look and feel of the Viator.com experience, with the customization necessary for the Portuguese-speaking traveler to maximize the benefits of booking activities in advance of travel like guaranteeing the best prices and avoiding sold-out activities. Viator's multi-language content system enables all translated information to be properly published and fully synchronized across the new local-language platforms.
