ViaWest Standardizes on Opengear for Secure Remote Access, Provisioning and Monitoring of Its Data Centers

SANDY, UT--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2012) - Opengear (www.opengear.com), provider of next generation, secure console servers and remote monitoring and management solutions, today announced that ViaWest, one of the largest privately held data center service providers in North America, has standardized on Opengear's solutions for secure remote access, out-of-band management and the provisioning of new equipment.

As a managed service provider (MSP) with 22 data centers, it was imperative ViaWest find a solution that would free up data center rackspace, as well as provide remote provisioning capabilities. With Opengear's console servers, ViaWest has reduced costs and has been able to use its workforce more efficiently now that they are able to connect more servers into one form factor (3X compared to their old solution).

"We have a high density of network equipment on racks, and find the 48 console ports on the CM4148 fit this design rather well," said Scott Bell, director of network engineering at ViaWest. "The CM4148 uses our TACACS server and dual-factor authentication, and its Web interface is intuitive and easy-to-navigate."

Enterprise Grade Security and Performance
The Opengear CM4000 family of console servers is the most secure and efficient solution at the lowest cost available today. They provide out-of-band management for serial console ports, servers, virtual servers, service processors, UPS/PDUs, environmental monitoring and more. The CM4000 family of console servers enables system administrators to securely access and control their data centers and networks, from anywhere in the world.

"We are providing more solutions to help MSPs customize their offerings to their customers,"
said Vice President of North American Sales at Opengear, Todd Rychecky. "With this, we have seen tremendous growth in 2011, as more customers and channel partners view Opengear as the most secure option for remote management and out-of-band access."
