Videocall's MyPresence "Telepresence as a Service" Builds Momentum

Videocall announce new features for its high definition, desktop telepresence service, MyPresence

CAMBERLEY, SURREY, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 21, 2008) - Videocall, a leading UK based conferencing service provider has today announced a host of new features for its MyPresence service. Based on the new H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC) standard MyPresence delivers high definition, reliable, robust desktop videoconferencing over converged and public IP networks (such as corporate networks and the Internet) working in a reservationless, on demand environment.

The major new additions to the MyPresence service include: Full interoperability with all standards based legacy videoconferencing equipment via a gateway service. Exploiting Videocall's extensive, global business exchange allows MyPresence users to conference with all types of ISDN or IP video endpoints including standard and high definition and telepresence around the globe, managed by Videocall's 24-7 Video Network Operations Centre (vNOC).

Further MyPresence developments include firewall traversal using a border controller. This allows the service to be used within secure corporate networks without modification to the network infrastructure. The client software auto-detects the presence of a firewall and enables the firewall traversal mechanism without user intervention. Furthermore, the Internet portal, which delivers the service, is now available in multiple languages.

"MyPresence represents a true step change in desktop video communications and the feedback that we've already received has been phenomenal. The addition of features such as gateway calls and firewall traversal adds further to the extensive list of benefits that the service brings." Commented Rob Portwood, Videocall's Chief Executive Officer. "We believe that MyPresence is unique in providing a managed, scalable, high definition personal telepresence solution and in today's economic climate the cost and efficiency savings that it brings have never been more relevant."
