Videotron Introduces Largest Selection of French-Language HD Stations and Enhanced Digital Packages in Quebec City Area

A Fully Upgraded Network

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 5, 2006) - As of December 8, 2006, Quebec City-area subscribers to illico Digital TV will enjoy the largest selection of French-language high-definition (HD) channels in Videotron's service area, with eight French-language channels in Videotron's new HD line-up. In all, 14 HD channels are being added: Canal D HD, Canal Vie HD, Historia HD, Series+ HD, Super Ecran HD, VRAK.TV HD, Ztele HD, CityTV HD, Global TV HD, CTV HD, Fox HD, The Movie Network HD, TSN HD and Viewer's Choice HD.

Quebec City-area illico Digital TV customers who are equipped with an HD set-top box and television set and who subscribe to the digital versions of the HD channels can already watch Radio-Canada HD, CBC HD, SportsNet HD, as well as the U.S. networks ABC HD, CBS HD, NBC HD and PBS HD. They will therefore have access to a grand total of 23 high-definition channels.

Fully upgraded network

The new selection of HD channels will be available starting December 8, 2006 in more than 80% of metropolitan Quebec City and 100% of the La Malbaie area. It will be available to 95% of households in metropolitan Quebec City by January 15, 2007 and 100% by February 28.

"With one of the most advanced networks in Canada and the best locally available selection of French-language HD channels, in terms of both quantity and quality, available to them, this really is the time for Quebec City-area consumers to make the move to high-definition television with Videotron."

TV channels and Video on Demand in HD

Movies and events are also available in high-definition through the illico on Demand service, which lets customers watch the programs they have ordered when they wish and as many times as they wish over a 24-hour period. In addition, subscribers have access to two pay-per-view Viewer's Choice channels in high definition. As of December 13, 2006, Quebec City-area subscribers will also be able to subscribe to Discovery HD for $3.99 per month, adding yet another channel to Videotron's HD offering.

"All systems are go to deliver a full HD experience to Quebec City-area customers, supported by the best French-language HD offering in the area," said Claude Sauve.

New digital channels

SportMax for sports fans

As of January 15, 2007, Quebec City-area customers will be able to subscribe to the new SportMax bundle, which includes three digital sport packages designed for football, hockey and baseball fans: NFL Sunday Ticket™, NHL Center Ice™ and MLB Extra Innings™. SportMax will be available with a 12-month commitment.

NFL Sunday Ticket™ is a package of 14 channels that carry National Football League games live. Subscribers can watch all regular Sunday-afternoon NFL games in real time, from mid-September to the end of December. NFL Sunday Ticket™ is the Sunday ticket for football fans who don't want to miss any of their favourite team's games.

NHL Center Ice™ (not to be confused with NHL Network™) which is already available on illico Digital TV) carries National Hockey League games, excluding locally blacked-out events. Subscribers will be able to watch approximately 40 games per week and the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The MLB Extra Innings™ package carries major-league baseball games, excluding locally blacked-out events. MLB Extra Innings™ broadcasts throughout the baseball season. True fans can follow great teams such as the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox all season long.

Enhanced digital offering

Another 34 channels will be added to Videotron's Quebec City grid on February 28, 2007. They will be available free of charge for at least one month (depending on the subscriber's package). The additions will include 9 channels in the Hispano package: Canal SUR, Cinelatino, Eurochannel, DOCU TVE, Utilisima, Gol TV, TV Azteca, TV Chile and TVE Internacionale. Since Telelatino is already available, the new services will bring the total number of Spanish-language channels available to illico digital TV subscribers in the Quebec City area to 10.
