Vidiom Systems, Inc. and Broadcom Corporation Partner to Deliver OCAP to 2007 Consumer Electronics Show

BROOMFIELD, CO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 8, 2007 -- Vidiom Systems, Inc., a leading provider of iTV technology solutions and services to the cable and consumer electronics industries, today announced that they have successfully ported their OCAP software to Broadcom Corporation's BCM7400 and BCM7401 reference platforms and will be demonstrating a variety of applications at CES 2007. Vidiom will be demonstrating their Program Guide (vGuide) and interactive News Ticker (vTicker) on the BCM97456 reference platform in the Broadcom suite (35778 in the CES Meeting Place, located on the 2nd floor, South Hall 4).

"Broadcom is an excellent partner to work with. Porting the Vidiom OCAP software stack to the Broadcom BCM7400 and BCM7401 platforms gives the industry more options to choose from. Having choices helps CE manufacturers and cable operators be competitive in the market," said Timothy Wahlers, President/CEO of Vidiom Systems.

"Broadcom is pleased to enable the OpenCable initiative along with Vidiom on Broadcom's BCM7401 single decode and BCM7400 dual decode HD solutions. These chips, together with the BCM3255 triple QAM/ DOCSIS 2.0+ front end, provide a scalable set of solutions that share a common software interface for the efficient reuse of software," said Joseph Del Rio, Senior Product Marketing Manager of Broadcom.

OCAP, part of the OpenCable initiative created by CableLabs, has been adopted as a standard by the SCTE and other standards organizations. The goals of the OpenCable initiative are to provide a unified, open standard that allows programmers to deploy interactive services over multiple cable networks, enable supplier competition, and create a retail market for digital cable receivers. Major MSOs are in the process of conducting OCAP trials and preparing for widespread deployments of OCAP devices.
