VidSys and General Dynamics Partner to Offer Crime Prevention and Response System

Crime Prevention and Response Solution Integrates Physical Security Information Management With Video and Acoustic Surveillance for a Complete View of Unfolding Emergencies in Real Time

VIENNA, VA--(Marketwire - October 1, 2009) - VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software that allows organizations to resolve business and security situations in real time, today announced its strategic partnership with General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), a trusted systems integrator for more than 50 years. General Dynamics has developed a Crime Prevention and Response (CPR) System, designed to help diminish criminal presence for safer communities, by leveraging the VidSys PSIM software that creates a common operating picture to verify, analyze, resolve and track unfolding situations.

"Leveraging advanced technology available today, we created the CPR System to help cities reduce gun-related crime, speed up response times and empower first responders to approach a situation with greater actionable intelligence, including real-time detection, accurate location and the number of rounds fired," said Peter Howard, senior director of network solutions, General Dynamics Information Technology. "The VidSys PSIM Software plays a crucial role within the CPR -- allowing for quick, seamless integration of physical security assets including CAD systems, creating a common operating picture that enhances real-time awareness and incident management, and neutralizing differences between systems to allow for cross-agency collaboration and incident resolution."

The VidSys PSIM software provides a simple and universal interface that brings together various technologies such as audio-video surveillance, gunshot location detection, access control, location maps and other complimentary surveillance and security technologies. By integrating security information from any device or system, the software creates a complete common operating picture of events. It also applies rules and policies to identify critical situations and presents the information to operators to verify, manage and initiate the appropriate response, thus bolstering tactical responses and strategic operations through intelligent data analysis. The integration provides city commanders and dispatchers both immediate awareness and growing, ongoing intelligence of what is occurring and exactly where to potentially reduce crime.

The CPR integrates information from several General Dynamics' partners including video cameras from Verint with acoustic gunshot detection from ShotSpotter, linked together using IP protocol over a BelAir Networks wireless mesh network. Information from the various devices is correlated within the VidSys PSIM software to enable improved situation management. The combined solution is designed to help cities and towns of all sizes effectively manage and prevent local crime through surveillance and intelligent response efforts. This includes reducing and deterring gang violence, responding to security threats and minimizing property damage. It also may be used to proactively identify suspicious situations, potentially preventing and deterring crime.

"By providing law enforcement, first responders and operations center personnel with real-time acoustic and video information of what occurred or is occurring, whether they're in the operations center or in the field, and allow them to share with other agencies, more effective verification, responses and incident resolution is possible," said David Fowler, senior vice president, Marketing and Product Development, at VidSys. "Through our partnership with General Dynamics, we're able to provide cities a complete solution set that they can quickly and easily put in to action."
