VidSys Helps Multi-Agency Task Force Launch State of the Art Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC) in New York City for Emergency Response and Coordination

VidSys PSIM Software Enables a Common Operating Picture for Federal, State and City Agency Coordination

VIENNA, VA--(Marketwire - November 13, 2008) - VidSys, the leading provider of Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software that allows organizations to resolve business and security situations in real time, today announced its involvement in the opening of one of the largest transportation command centers in North America -- the Joint Transportation Management Center (JTMC) in Long Island City, New York.

The JTMC is focused on around-the-clock coordination and communication among the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) Region 11, New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), New York Police Department (NYPD), the Federal Highway Administration and other partner agencies in the metropolitan area to manage daily transportation incidents and reduce congestion on some of the busiest expressways in the world. Additionally, it is designed to safely and efficiently move people, goods, services and information vital to the economy through the State and City of New York.

VidSys PSIM software is at the heart of the JTMC in the Central Video and Control System (CVCS). The CVCS monitors and manages all incidents within the New York sub-region. The software collects, correlates and analyzes information from across multiple devices from different vendors and presents intelligent views of the situation to the center operators. The CVCS provides one common operating picture for the multi-agency coordination, empowering the JTMC operators to effectively manage complex technologies and emergencies by enabling them to focus on the management of situations instead of technologies.

A ribbon-cutting and opening ceremony for the JTMC occurred earlier today. The event included brief presentations by the NYSDOT, the NYCDOT, the NYPD and the Federal Highway Administration. An overview of the situation and event management technologies as well as a walk-through of how the JTMC is designed to handle various situations also occurred.

"We are honored to be a part of implementing one of the largest and most visible intelligent transport system operations centers in North America," said James Chong, CTO of VidSys and Program Executive for the JTMC. "With our PSIM software we've been able to develop a system that is practical yet powerful, cost effective, comprehensive and flexible that will influence and guide the design of similar centers throughout the country and the world."

The JTMC will also be showcased at the upcoming ITS World Congress, being held November 16 - 20 in New York City. Attendees of the conference will be able to visit the JTMC with tours led by the host agencies. Chong will participate in an interactive discussion on interoperability at ITS World Congress which will highlight the strategies used to construct the JTMC. The session, titled "Multi-Agency Regional Video Interoperability, Integration and Management Platform for ITS," will take place on Wednesday, November 19 from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. To learn more, go to http://www.itsworldcongress.org/.
