Vidyo Enables Tempura Communications to Reach Home and Mobile Workforce With Multi-Party Desktop Videoconferencing

Tempura Adds Vidyo-Based HD Videoconferencing to Roster of Hosted Service Offerings

HACKENSACK, NJ--(Marketwire - October 20, 2009) - Vidyo®, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that Tempura Communications Ltd., a UK-based Conferencing Service Provider (CSP), has recently launched a new videoconferencing service, Tempura Telepresence, based on Vidyo's groundbreaking technology. In addition to the service, Tempura is offering a no capital expenditure model of the VidyoConferencing™ system, in which all components are rentable, including an HD room system.

"We were amazed by the quality of the Vidyo solution, right from the start," said Matthew Light, Managing Director of Tempura Communications. "Some of us have been working in the videoconferencing industry for over 12 years, but none had seen any other solution offer anything close to what Vidyo delivers. We looked at other solutions, from both room systems and desktop videoconferencing solution providers, but VidyoDesktop™ won hands down in terms of performance and compatibility with our other hosted service offerings."

The new Tempura service was officially launched in early July to the company's channel and reseller customers. Tempura Telepresence allows individual users to participate in videoconferencing as easily as making phone calls or sending emails. The new service has already generated considerable market interest and Tempura is currently performing between twenty-five and fifty demos of the desktop solution per week. Additionally, Tempura is currently using Tempura Telepresence internally to enhance communications with remote office and home workers.

"Enabling effective teleworking is a major trend in today's business environment," said Ofer Shapiro, CEO of Vidyo. "Conferencing Service Providers have a pivotal role in providing this application with minimal capital expenditure. Vidyo products and technology, with the ability to provide a low delay HD experience over the Internet, are a big part in making this a reality. In addition, Tempura is offering their customers the added option of renting an appliance-based VidyoRoom™ system that provides HD without any capital expenditure. That's an exceptional offer."

Vidyo's solution enables CSPs to leverage compelling cost, quality and deployment advantages over those using traditional MCU-based videoconferencing technologies. It also allows CSPs to reach a far larger customer base since Vidyo products don't require dedicated networks, and scale from a telepresence room to HD desktop videoconferencing. Vidyo's portal-based solution provides APIs that easily integrate with existing back office systems. Since the Vidyo model is based on annual license fees, it fits perfectly with a CSP's existing pricing structure.
