Viewdle Releases Facial Recognition SDK for Mobile Developers

Viewdle Optimizes Facial Recognition SDK on TI's Blaze™ Mobile Development Platform

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 14, 2011) - MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS -- Viewdle (, the only independent mobile-focused visual analysis company, today launched the first Software Development Kit (SDK) that enables hardware and software developers to incorporate facial recognition technology into their applications. Viewdle also announced that it has optimized its Facial Recognition SDK on the OMAP™ 4 platform-based Blaze™ mobile development platform (MDP) from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI). Kontacts, a new Android product built on this platform, will be showcased in TI's Mobile World Congress booth (#8A84, Hall 8). Kontacts features real-time facial recognition on the mobile device, allowing users to tag and share photos and videos with information from Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, based on who's in the viewfinder.

"Viewdle's advanced facial recognition technology provides mobile developers the ability to deliver a compelling, unique user experience with substantial performance gains and unparalleled power management on our OMAP4430-based Blaze MDP," said Fred Cohen, director, OMAP wireless ecosystem, TI. "Our relationship with Viewdle also enables TI to offer another 'first' in advanced mobile social products that evolved out of the OMAP platform's extensive ecosystem, creating exciting opportunities for our customers."

"We're delighted that Texas Instruments has chosen to license our best-of-breed technology for their new hardware platform," commented Viewdle Co-Founder and CEO Laurent Gil. "Viewdle is increasingly the technology of choice for hardware and software vendors looking to include advanced visual analysis functionality in their products."

Viewdle's recognition technology is optimized for mobile, requiring low processing power while benefiting from fast processing, and is unique in its ability to recognize who's in the viewfinder at the point of capture. It automatically identifies faces from the viewfinder, in videos and in photos and tags them with a name. It can also recognize multiple people at once with the accuracy of the human eye.

Viewdle's SDK enables hardware and software developers to incorporate real-time facial detection, recognition and tagging into their applications. Viewdle will be announcing further partnerships over the coming months.
