Vigil Releases Next Generation Wireless Technology; Innovative Use of Transceiver Technology Provides Peace of Mind for Residents

VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 7, 2005) - Vigil Health Solutions Inc. ("Vigil®") (TSX VENTURE:VGL), creators of technology for long-term care, is pleased to announce the release of its next generation wireless call system. The new Vigil Wireless Call System (Patent Pending) is a more complete suite of products than has previously been available and offers several practical new functions.

Wireless call systems offer a cost effective solution for long-term care facilities providing reliable monitoring with a lower installation cost than the hardwired alternatives. Vigil's new version provides some significant enhancements and offers all of the benefits of a conventional wireless call system at a competitive price. The system includes a full range of wireless technologies including bed sensor outlets, bed/chair exit pads, wireless nurse call stations and pull stations, as well as wireless pendants.

The new wireless bed sensor outlet and bed/chair exit pad notifies staff when a resident exits a chair or wheelchair. The technology identifies the resident and provides accurate location information via silent pager or wireless phones. This provides a quieter and more accurate alert than a traditional "screamer" alarm, where a caregiver is required to follow the noise to locate the resident.

The system also offers various wireless call devices for use by the resident, including a wireless pendant and call button or pull cord. The wireless nature of the nurse call transmitters allow facilities to install them easily, at a lower cost, and provides them with the flexibility to move the devices as required.

Vigil's innovative use of transceiver technology within the wireless pendant and other wireless devices provides a simple but effective method of notifying a resident when their call for assistance has been received. Unlike traditional wireless devices, where the resident has no way of knowing if their call has been picked up by the wireless network, the Vigil Pendant, or other wireless device, lets residents know the signal has been received. A further design development allows staff to cancel calls using only the resident's pendant. Along with the easy-to-use call button each pendant has a second smaller button, which used in combination with the call button allows staff to cancel calls, facilitating a personal response. When a resident uses one of the other devices to call for help similar technology notifies the resident that a call has been sent and requires staff to cancel the call at source.

"We are very pleased with the added functionality the Vigil Wireless Call System provides. We believe the breadth and quality of product in this new release will assist Vigil in increasing its share of the Independent Living, CCRC and retrofit markets," said Troy Griffiths, President, Vigil Health Solutions Inc.

The use of wireless call systems is particularly prominent in the growing Independent Living and Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) where the well-priced technology is increasingly used to meet the needs of the ambulatory elderly population.

About the Vigil Wireless Call System

The Vigil Wireless Call System is designed to alert caregivers or security staff when a resident is in need of assistance, identify who the resident is, and provide a general description of his or her location. When residents require assistance they simply press the button on their wireless personal transmitter. The call location, type and time of call, as well as the resident's identity are instantly displayed on Vigil networked computers, staff pagers or wireless phones, enabling a fast and efficient response to resident calls.
