Village at St. Peter's Housing Presented by the Diocese of Camden Celebrates Occupancy

Del-Sano Contracting Corp. Delivers 74 New Affordable Rental Housing Units in Pleasantville, N.J. Featuring Energy Efficiency and Durable Finishes

UNION, NJ--(Marketwire - May 2, 2012) - Del-Sano Contracting Corporation, a general contracting, design/build and construction management services firm, today announced its participation in the ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 24 for the Village at St. Peter's senior-housing facility. This six-story high-rise, 80,000 square foot affordable housing complex is located at 21 W. Black Horse Pike in Pleasantville, N.J., the former site of the St. Peter Catholic Church Convent.

A project of the Diocese of Camden Housing Services (DCHS), Village at St. Peter's includes 74 one bedroom units, public space and administrative offices. The residential building is adjacent to a prayer garden and Knights of Columbus monument for unborn children directly in-line with the Arch and Bell Tower of the former St. Peter Church. Each apartment unit is approximately 540 square feet and suitable for one or two residents. To ensure the safety of the residents, the entrance to the building requires an access-card and the perimeter of the building is protected by a fence that is emboldened with cast stone bollards. The aesthetically colorful stucco facade is prominent along the south easterly direction of Black Horse Pike. The property includes parking on site and is within walking distance of shopping, transportation, worship, and social activities.

With extensive experience in building sustainable, high performance buildings, Del-Sano included units that are Energy Star certified in the Village at St. Peter, as well as ensured compliance with the NJHMFA (NJ Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency) Green Futures program. Construction waste was 85% recycled. The residential units also have low-flow water fixtures, energy-saving fixtures and equipment, sustainable materials, and low-VOC products.

"The Village at St. Peter's will give local senior citizens the opportunity to remain in their community," explained Angelo Del Russo, CEO of Del-Sano. "Built on the site of where the previous convent once stood, this location is historic and retains a sentimental value to the St. Peter community. The new building will bring confidence to a once declining neighborhood and will be vital in setting the pace for future development in Pleasantville. Projects such as this bring hope to those parishioners that contributed to a once vibrant parish. They now see the Diocese as a leader in revitalizing and improving the former school and church properties for more beneficial and dense residential use."

The Del-Sano team was led by Mike Petronaci as project manager, John Falzarano as project superintendent, Kelly Mack as administrative assistant, and Dave Hriczko who was responsible for project safety. The architect design team was Larry Johnson Jr. and Kirk Dean at Johnson & Jones Architect Planners, Inc. based in Princeton, N.J.
