Vineland Growers Co-operative Earns Performance Improvement Award

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2008) - Vineland Growers Co-operative, Ltd., Jordan Station, Ont., received first place in the Performance Improvement award at the GROWMARK, Inc. annual meeting in Chicago last Friday. George Mitges is the manager and Phil Tregunno is the president.

While introducing the award winners, Dennis Farmer, GROWMARK vice president of member services, said, "Controlling results in an environment where you have no control over the factors that impact your results would sound like a fool's errand. No industry identifies more readily with this than agriculture, challenged by everything from Mother Nature, to politics, to global market forces. Yet, members of the GROWMARK System continue to achieve outstanding success through the careful management of assets and the dedication of their employees."

GROWMARK measures the improvement in the performance of member cooperatives based on return on invested capital. Over a five-year time frame, each cooperative's return on invested capital improvement is measured in comparison to other cooperatives in the System. From this measurement, the Performance Improvement Award was developed.

GROWMARK, Inc. is a regional cooperative providing agriculture-related products and services and grain marketing in the Midwest and Ontario, Canada. FS brand farm supplies and related services are also marketed to farmers in the northeastern United States and by GROWMARK subsidiaries. Additional information is available at
