Vinfen Helps Foster Recovery Among Young Adults Through Use of Wellframe's Mobile Technology, and Announces Plans to Expand the Program

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - July 22, 2015) - Wellframe, a Boston-based company that enables health plans and healthcare providers to amplify existing care resources to improve patient engagement and better manage care, announced today the findings of a new case study in partnership with Vinfen Corporation. The case study tracks the impact of mobile-enabled care on the health outcomes of participants in Vinfen's Transition Age Youth Program. The study is revealing that Wellframe's technology enables Vinfen's staff to reach more clients more often, while providing the young adults in the program with resources necessary to help them expedite their road to recovery and achieve their individual goals.

Elizabeth Cella, Project Manager for Innovation at Vinfen, notes, "The young adults really are using the app very frequently."

"Using the [Wellframe] app has helped me achieve my goals," said a participant. "When I use the app, it's usually the first thing I do in the morning while I'm laying in bed trying to wake up, and the last thing I do before I go to bed." According to the study, users were engaged on over two-thirds of the days over the course of the 90-day trial. On days when users were engaged, over 80% of health tasks were completed, while participants reported an 85% medication adherence rate. Additionally, participants sent or received an average of over 40 messages.

"[Wellframe] is providing an additional layer to [the young adults'] care on a medium that they already use," said Vanessa Colomba, a Vinfen staff. "We learned that using the online format allows the young adult to feel more conformable and to share things that they may not feel comfortable sharing in a face to face interaction. I don't see [Wellframe] as being a replacement for the face to face interactions, but an additional supplement on a day to day basis."

With the successful completion of this initial pilot, which was rolled out in the early part of this year, Vinfen also announced plans to expand the program, making it available to more of its members. The customized program is based on evidence-based protocols, and was developed collaboratively by Wellframe's clinical team and Vinfen's staff.
