Violin Memory Enlists New Global Strategic Partner: Sumisho Computer Systems

Japanese IT Company to Distribute Violin's Flash-Forward Memory Arrays

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - March 1, 2011) - Violin Memory, Inc., provider of the world's fastest and most scalable Memory Arrays, today announced Sumisho Computer Systems Corporation (SCS), one of Japan's largest IT providers, as a new strategic partner.

"Enterprise customers in Japan are looking for ways to increase database and application performance while reducing operating costs with the hope of shrinking the data center, not expanding it," said Naoki Ike, General Manager, IT Engineering Unit of SCS. "Violin's flash Memory Arrays provide the capacity, density, performance and price that directly challenge traditional performance HDD Storage Arrays and open the door to the solid state data center transformation."

SCS (9719.T) will distribute flash Memory Arrays to the fast-growing Japanese market. The 41-year-old IT solutions and services company selected Violin's 3000 series for its large capacity, high performance, networking capability and lower power consumption.

"SCS's deep knowledge and experience introducing cutting edge technologies to the Japanese market will be a great value to Violin in this rapidly growing space," said Don Basile, CEO Violin Memory. "The partnership is a valuable asset in our global expansion strategy."

Violin's "insanely powerful" Memory Arrays are transforming the data center for companies like AOL, Microsoft and HP through its patent-pending flash vRAID technology. The company was recently named one of Storage Newsletter's "15 Most Promising Startups," and a "Top 10 Data Storage Startup" by Enterprise Storage Forum.
