Violin Memory Nominated by Telecom Council Service Provider Members in Three Categories of the SPIFFY Awards 2011

Product Innovations Will Be Highlighted at ShowStoppers During Mobile World Congress

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 9, 2011) - Violin Memory, Inc., provider of the world's fastest and most scalable Memory Arrays, today announced that the company is nominated for three of Telecom Council's annual SPIFFY Awards including Core Award for Best Fixed Telecom Opportunity, Ground Breaker Award for Engineering Excellence and the People's Choice Award. The announcement was made in advance of Mobile World Congress, where Violin's 3200 Flash Memory Array and cloud project with a major Nordic Telecom will be showcased at ShowStoppers on Feb. 13, between 5 and 8 p.m. Central European Time at Hotel Rey Juan Carlos in Barcelona, Spain.

"We reviewed over 100 startups in 2010 and our carrier members nominated Violin Memory for three different awards, recognizing the company as one of the best investment opportunities within the fixed telecom sector with impressive technological advancements," said Liz Kerton, president of the Telecom Council.

Violin Memory's 3200 Flash Memory Array technology is designed to address the growing scalability and infrastructure demands of some of the world's largest telecom providers. The 3200 provides ten times the performance of hard disk drives (HDD) with one-tenth the footprint in space and power, allowing telecom companies to increase performance while downsizing the datacenter. With the 3200, telecoms can rapidly scale and deliver real-time, on-demand mobile data and services to customers, especially as they move toward cloud services. Furthermore, the 3200 addresses the need for higher performance infrastructures to meet the 4G data rate demands.

"Scalability and performance is essential for telecom providers as billions of customers rely on their services daily. But as companies develop cloud services and data demands grow exponentially, existing infrastructures are strained," said Don Basile, CEO of Violin Memory. "As a result, several major telecom companies have turned to Violin Memory."
