Viper Powersports Announces Alabama Businessmen Tim Wellborn and Grant Lynch as Director Nominees

HOPKINS, MN--(Marketwire - October 5, 2010) -  Viper Powersports (OTCBB: VPWI), announced today that Tim Wellborn, Alabama businessman, and Grant Lynch, Chairman of Talladega Superspeedway, have agreed to join the board as directors of Viper Powersports Inc.

John R. Silseth II, CEO of Viper Powersports, stated, "In conjunction with the relocation to our new world class manufacturing facility in Auburn, Alabama, we made a strategic decision to add representation from leading members of the Alabama business community to our board of directors. Thanks to the help we received from Mike Hubbard, the Alabama House Minority Leader and Governor Bob Riley, we were able to find our first two nominees, Tim Wellborn and Grant Lynch. Terry Nesbitt, President of Viper Motorcycle Company, stated, "It's an honor that as we relocate to the state of Alabama that two of its most successful and visible businessmen join our board. We are very excited about this relationship as Tim and Grant bring years of business experience and unequalled leadership qualities to the Viper team."

Tim Wellborn is the past CEO and owner of Wellborn Forest Products, and is the owner of the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum which houses the world's largest Mopar classic car collection. He has served on the Talladega International Motorsports Hall of Fame Board of Directors since 1985. In 2008 Tim was presented with the prestigious Lee Iacocca Award. According to Wellborn, "I have been a big fan of high performance vehicles since I was a young man. After riding the new Diamondback, I see the same kind of high performance standards that comprise my Mopar Muscle Car collection. The bike is light weight, easy to handle and has an acceleration curve that will sure put a smile on your face. I'm a businessman first, and I see Viper setting a new standard in the industry with their proprietary 152 cubic inch, 160 ft lbs of torque v-twin engine with their manufacturing joint venture with Ilmor Engineering. Viper's new product introductions including the Mamba later this year should create quite a bit of excitement. I'm proud to be a part of this new up and coming company."

Grant Lynch is the Chairman of Talladega Superspeedway and Vice president of special projects with International Speedway Corporation. Grant came to Talladega in 1993 after 11 years with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., where in his last post as senior manager of operations and public relations, he managed the Company's involvement in NASCAR Winston Cup racing. Lynch stated, "Having been a racing enthusiast and involved with Motorsports Racing for 28 years, I see Viper attempting to set a new standard for a High Performance Motorcycle. The engine partnership with Ilmor Engineering, which is owned by Roger Penske and Mario Illian, is a very big deal and is unique to the industry. By having Ilmor produce, co-brand, and warranty the Viper 152 engine, it gives Viper a huge advantage in breaking into the market. With 224 Indy Race Series Wins to their credit, Ilmor is one of the premier high performance engine companies in the world. With over 5,000,000 EVO style Harley Davidson's and custom motorcycles on the road since 1982; we have a huge opportunity to break into the engine replacement business as well. If somebody wanted high performance, I can't think of a reason why you wouldn't want to swap your old EVO engine out for a Viper Ilmor 152. In addition to the torque output being double the engine runs about 20% cooler at idle. I believe that Viper has a tremendous opportunity to be an important player in the motorcycle industry."

Viper Powersports designs, manufactures and markets a line of premium American V-Twin Super Cruiser motorcycles, V-Twin aftermarket engines and other related aftermarket products through an independent dealer network. A joint venture partner with Ilmor Engineering (, provides technical developmental support, manufacturing, testing, dealer training and support, and an 18,000 mile 2 year warranty for the proprietary 152 cubic inch Viper V-Twin engine. By utilizing their 25 years of engine design expertise, the Ilmor Joint Venture ensures Viper's long term success as America's newest domestic OEM of motorcycles.
