("VIQ Solutions" or the "Corporation") (TSX VENTURE:VQS), a world leader in computer-based digital audio and video capture and management, today reported its financial results for the three and twelve month periods ended December 31, 2010.

"In 2010, we invested heavily in future growth and achieved several key strategic accomplishments," commented David Outhwaite, President and Chief Executive Office of VIQ Solutions. "Because of the foundation laid in 2010, we enter 2011 with a solid sales pipeline, a reputation as the global leader in digital media capture and management, and the partners and capital in place to convert those elements into a solid financial performance."

Annual Results

Revenue was $12.2 million for the year ended December 31, 2010 as compared to $11.3 million for the previous year, representing an increase of 8%. Gross profit for 2010 was $4.3 million as compared to $4.6 million in 2009, representing a decrease of 7%. Gross profit expressed as a percentage of revenues was 35% as compared to 40% in 2009, in part due to one-time start up costs associated with the commencement of new contracts in Australia. Net loss for the year was $2,805,546 or $0.03 per share as compared to $972,824 or $0.01 per share for the previous year. The net loss for the year includes a $1,020,000 goodwill impairment charge relating to the Corporation's Australian transcription business, Spark & Cannon, as a result of weakened market conditions for the reporting unit.

Fourth Quarter Results

Revenues increased from $2.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2009 to $3.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2010 primarily due to an increase in revenue for the transcription business. Gross margin for the quarter was relatively unchanged at 37% as compared to 38% for the fourth quarter of 2009. Selling and administrative expenses were $1.5 million in 2010 as compared to $1.2 million for the same period in 2009. The goodwill impairment charge for the three month period ended December 31, 2010 was $1,020,000 as compared to nil for the same period in 2009.
