Virgin Entertainment Group Announces Line up of Instore Events for First Annual Virgin Pridefest

New York City Virgin Megastores Will Host Events Celebrating Gay Pride Week: Events Are Open to Both Press and Consumers

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - Virgin Entertainment Group, North America, the premiere Global entertainment retailer, announced today a series of in-store events in honor of New York City's Gay Pride Week. Since this year's Pridefest, the one-day street festival, has not been approved by New York City Mayor Bloomberg, Virgin Megastore Union Square has decided to offer its location for the first annual Virgin Pridefest on Saturday, June 23.

"Pridefest has been a major part of the Gay Pride Week celebration here in New York City," explains Dee Mc Laughlin, vice president of marketing, Virgin Entertainment Group, North America. "Since it has been canceled by the city, we have teamed up with Heritage of Pride and are thrilled to open our doors at Virgin Megastore, Union Square to the public and offer a day of live concerts, DJ spinning and special in-store contests and events. We have invited a variety of vendors who support the GLBT community that were originally scheduled to be in attendance at the 8th Avenue Pridefest, so it should be quite the event."

Virgin has several instore events at both of the New York City Megastore locations leading up to Saturday's Pridefest. Below is a list of events scheduled for the week:

Monday June 18th - VIRGIN MEGASTORE TIMES SQUARE - 6 PM

Erasure will stop by prior to their evening concert at Radio City Music Hall to sign copies of their latest CD "Light at the End of the World."

Tuesday June 19th - VIRGIN MEGASTORE UNION SQUARE - 7:30 PM

Actress Patricia Charbonneau and director Donna Deitch will be signing copies of the special re-issue of the film "Desert Hearts," a groundbreaking film in the Lesbian community.
